There is a concept I learned back when I was playing GunZ, it's called "aiming ahead" or "lead shot".
Lets start with the ping. Ping is basically the amount of time in milliseconds it takes for your input to reach the host server.
How is this fact beneficial?
Lets say our ping is 100 and you got the good ol' sniper rifle. If you think that if you press that mouse button at the exact moment your reticle turns red, you'll miss (well, in Halo CE anyway). However, if you calculate in your head where your enemy's head gonna be 100 millisecs later, BOOM! headshot. And this doesn't just apply to shooting, but everything involved with your input, like running, shooting, grenade throwing, even melee attacks.
And with a lil' bit of practice, you'll be able to OHKO vehicle drivers going at full speed.
Oh, and for the record, the guy wasn't cussing at me. I rarely use rockets.
