Sigh.

I had a huge debate in 3rd hour today with like 3-4 people. What about? Gays/Lesbians.

They knew nothing. Had no evidence of the things they said were true and no real experience with such people. They kept saying they chose to be that way...

Ugh. Ugh.

One kid seriously said.. flat out.. "Gays should be shot." Really? I will never understand such hatred! EVER! How could you ever want to end a life? How?

No one I know who is gay, chose to be. Why would they want to make their life harder than it has to be?

I offended so many people. I basically said that religion has ruined how people think. No free thinking.

These kids were saying, "The bible tells me it's wrong." So basically, their religion.. something that is supposed to be a good thing in their life and tell them to love thy neighbor... is causing such hatred. I just.. I just can't understand it. It breaks my heart to hear such hatred and ignorance. It breaks my heart that they honestly don't have the ability to think for themselves.

This is not meant to turn into some huge debate.. I'm sharing my day.

Once again, sigh.

Yeah..there's a mormon in my class who thinks gays choose to be gay. Though she says she doesn't hate them she just thinks it isn't right, but anyway. How can you choose what turns you on and what doesn't? What attracts you and what doesn't? And I don't really understand how they can say they choose to be gay when the actual gay people all say they didn't choose to be gay.. Though I do believe that in a few years/decades things for gays will get better.

As I think about it now, it hurts me.

I know, I can be a cruel and blunt person but I would never wish for death on a person. Someone who has done nothing wrong. They are just living as themself.

One girl kept saying they go through a spiritual thing in their life and thats when they choose. Uhh.. nope. Nothing like that has ever happened in any gay person's life that I know of. They just found themselves looking at the same sex and they knew. Then they said, "Well, then there's something wrong in their head." IT'S NOT A DISEASE/ILLNESS/DISORDER. >_____<

This might get a lot of religious people upset, but this is my view..

I think that it's rather ironic that.. I thought with the bible it tells you to love everyone, accept everyone, but here we are with homosexuals they want them burn them O_o

So many contradictions... so many things I cant understand why they believe in it..

Do you go to a religious school? Or just happen that those you talked to are religious?

A_Forever 12-21-2009 09:16 PM

Nope. Just a regular public school. It's a small town. The town is a square mile basically. Most kid's families have been their all their lives. Most are religious.. a lot are very religious. Christian and catholic primarily.

Smile town.. sounds like a nice town! XD

Sometimes religious can be good.. like I've been to a few weddings lately where it's held at the church and they're a lot more formal and binding than those that are not religious...

But yeah.. I like my own views...

... So you're saying that those people were Christian-Catholics? Then I'm deeply ashamed for them... I'm a Christian-Catholic myself and, never in my life have I heard of such ignorance and nonsense-in reality... What could be more embarrassing than contradicting yourself, making a fool out of yourself and simply... failing... especially in a debate... formal or informal... blaaaaaah what a shame X_X

Begun the path to enlightenment, you have.

Might I suggest some reading? Christopher Hitchens's God Is Not Great would probably be a good start.
