They're dropped by higher level human types - the easiest one I can think off of the top of my head are CP prisoners.

If you have any Vanishing Signs and tier 1 alchemy stones, and you are on the Teva server then I can compose them for you and make you Sign of Trace. It takes 14 vanishing signs to make 1 Sign of trace. Just let me know. :)

what area in Vine tomb do these spawn and do they drop often like vanished signs do?

Hobs are all over in vine tomb and they dont drop too often but you do get them.
