Why?
 

I have a level 37 cleric and no one wants to party with me for the abyss, quests, or even the tower. could this be because I have no armor or weapons? even still, I can heal, and am pretty good at my cleric. does armor feo a non-combat class matter???

For a cleric it sure does. Have you never noticed your heals (especially spam heals) draw aggro? At higher lvls you'll get the whole mob on you if you heal too early (or if the tank sucks, but thats a different story).

So yea, I'd say armour is a necessity, so is a shield. A weapon however isn't.

The question is, do you accually have armor and weapons?? cuz if you don't you already have a big problem.

I wouldn't party with an armorless cleric either. They die = I die.
