Tim Burton MIGHT do 1984
If he does, i hope it turns out good. there's alot of critics who think it'll just be another fantasy movie that misses out on the whole point of the book... if he can do this right, he'll break free from that label.
I'll personally deffinitely be in the theaters when it comes out... i love the book, and i love burton, so... lets cross our fingers and hope it comes true... *Note: This is all currently speculation. it's still "in development", so it may or may not come out. According to IMDb, wikipedia, and ign, it IS true that he's working on it...* |
Currently reading 1984. :O
i think burton will do well, if he decides to do it... as long as he doesnt make it fantastic, and keeps it science fiction-ish, he should do well.
Sigh. It's been done already. The 1984 version of 1984 is a classic. Richard Burton as O'Brien can't be topped.
Why compare them? he could do it completely differently, capturing different elements of the story.
Why not use another dystopian storyline? Y'know, be fucking creative for a change? Everything is a remake these days.
Because 1984's one of the most important storylines of our time, and he probably has some kind of vision for it.
Besides, you were complaining about him doing gothic fantasies, so im surprised you're not ecstatic. |
For all I know he's going to make it into a gothic fantasy.
Gothic? Hopefully. Fantasy? i seriously doubt it. He pulled sweeney todd off PERFECTLY without adding any fantasy elements. Gothic Darkness serves Oceania well.
As a former card-carrying member of the goth community, I hope he doesn't add any gothic elements to 1984. It should be cold, stark, and bleak as the living embodiment of a bureaucracy gone mad. No cake makeup, no twisty trees, no Victorian clothing, no funny hats...nothing Hot Topic can market. Period.
