im wondering

if i get heal[01] do i need to get heal[02]?
this question goes with any class and skill

Heal[02] is the upgrade to Heal[01]. You should always aspire to get the newest upgrades for your skills.

so what your saying is

if i get Heal[02] would the upgrades i did in heal one pass on or would i have to reset

Let's take this senario:

You buy/get Heal[01]. Empower it with 5 points. You buy Heal[02]. The 5 points you empowered Heal[01] are still there.

would i have a heal 1 or 2 or would heal 1 be upgraded to heal 2

You have to have the previous upgrade to get the new one. And you have to purchase the new upgrade yourself.

When you buy Heal [2], you keep Heal [1].
Allowing you to select Heal [2] and Heal [1] on your quickbar and vice versa.

You would have Heal 1 AND Heal 2. You can use different levels of the same skill at anytime, but they'll all share the same cool down.

The higher level of a skill usually gives more power / more heal / longer effect time... etc.
