Character Lvl VS Production Skill Lvl

Hello all those more experienced than I.

I currently use a lvl 31 Fighter Tanker Hybrid and i'm curious to know if there's a general rule of thumb for how high my production skills should be vs how high my character lvl is.

Both of the production skills on my Fighter are currently at Tier 2 so I'm hoping that's good because I'm only just starting to get drops on a regular basis from mobs for those skills now and before I had to compose low quality items to get to where I needed for my T2 skills....

Advice?

Production plays very little a role in your character in general.
I have a level 67 Fighter, and can harldy make t2 potions. It's more about whether you are going to NEED the items, OR to sell them.
But for the most part, Productions skills are strictly for buisiness. So feel free to worry less.

Thank you very much, that was all I needed to know

If it makes you feel any better, my level 73 - close to 74 mage doesn't have a single production skill. Zilch. Nada.

Laziness FTW.

"Production plays very little a role in your character in general."

I disagree, the ability to add value to your drops and produce sellable and tradeable goods will serve you well as you level. A lack of gold will make the higher levels more difficult and the ability to make your own pots and scrolls will make them easier.

At lev 31 you are doing fine and I encourage you to continue. On the other hand, I do well buying mats and selling goods so I don't need the compition.

At lev 61 you will start to get all t3 drops and you will want to have your decomping skills advanced. Also, making $$ with production skills really requires the ability to afk buy/sell and this stops many.

Lots of plp just ncp or sell their drops for income and sometimes dont even have enough to buy new skills or that sweet peice of gear they find for sale.
As guild master I have a responsability to help and it is my production skills that allow me to do that with both gold and goods. At this point I don't doubt that I have passed along 60-80g or more to my guildies and others.

Just as in real life $$ is only the way to get the things you really want.

^That's certainly true but a slight deviation from what was asked.

Prod. skills are certainly handy but the OP was asking if there was a certain tier or milestone against which he/she could compare. It all depends on the player, you can either do no production at all or refine the ability to the max.

there are many ways to make money other than the conventional production skills.

Some of them may be deemed more salicious then others >.>
Pro skills, powerleveling. Farming, grinding and selling drops, KQ camping.
You name it, There is profit.
OR maybe just hit it up with some rich high-level, Always aim for the bulls-eye.
