Open-world PVP rules:

1) Players below level 45 are immune to PK

2) Players above level 45 can engage other players above level 45 in open world PVP.

3) Players who PK another player gain infamy. Killing a player around your level gains you -1 infamy. Killing players much lower level than you gives you even more infamy.

4) Players with -1 infamy or more will have their names in red (normal players have their names in white). When a red-named player is killed by another player, he will drop items and lose experience. White-named players do not drop items or lose EXP when PK'd.

5) Players with -3 infamy or more will have their movement speed slowed, and will be attacked by guards.

6) Infamy decreases over time, so eventually players will return to 0 infamy.

As you can see, open-world PVP has strong deterrents to ganking other players.

PVP Instances

We are developing PVP instances for both small-scale encounters and large-scale battefields. These will be scheduled releases after the game launches. In these instances, players do not receive penalties for killing other players (since it's the objective and all).

That's the PvP system in ESO in case anyone was wondering.

Hm, I dont like the idea of losing items. Do you know what happens for example if a lower level picks a fight with you and you beat the crap out of him, will you be charged with -1 infamy even though you didn't start it? Because if that happens, it'll be flyff all over again. Noobs harassing higher lvls forcing them to pk them and get negative karma points.

is there the option of like...flying into cities so i won't get killed by the guards at the entrance (aka they have to see me to try to kill me) or they will storm towards me no matter what?

and aww...slower movement speed? T_T it's already very slow

I actually kinda like that sort of system. Kill other players and you suffer consequences.

Yeah but what I'm trying to say is, I dont want to suffer the conseqeunce for killing someone who started the fight. I dont want to have negative infamy for minding my own business. In flyff, when this happened, the higher lvls either had to suck it up and kill the lower lvls harassing them or just run away and hope they disappear.

Yeah, I can see the downside to that. The occasional smackdown like that shouldn't be TOO big of a deal, since the points fade away. It'll really depend on the community not being assholes. Hope springs eternal.

Kill other players and theres bad consequences? wtf
is the fuckin point of a open pvp world... stupid fuckin idea...
and horrible pvp side to the game.

It just means that you better have a damn good reason for PK'ing outside of instances (I'm guessing instances have no penalty).

It's to prevent people from doing something like Fiesta players... trolling the abyss for lowbies.

Hraesvelg 03-12-2009 04:50 AM

What should happen to a dickhole PKer? Should he be showered with kisses? He gets a reputation of being an asshole, the guards try to bring him to justice, he looks like a dick. Sounds like an interesting way of having a PvP system. It's avaliable, but discouraged. For those of us who don't particularly care for being ganked everywhere we go it's a new and novel idea.

About the only better system I could see would be to add another side to things, with people getting positive points for killing people with certain reputation levels. Like a bounty hunter system.

I want to see the guards coming at someone!!
