god damn AE

I'm just started something in adobe after effects and it's already making me angry!

When I try doing the preview thing with 0, it doesn't preview the whole thing! I inserted an audio file (background music), and inserted text with some animated effects. I put in an animate in and animate out effect, but the ram preview only played up to animate in effect and doesn't play the whole thing. =.=!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O_o sounds so complicated

Found the problem. I don't have enough RAM .__. have to preview it in the lowest quality evar.

Lol, yeah, previewing in After Effects in a pain for me too. Real time previewing in there gives no sound and I can usually only get like 15-30 second worth or RAM preview at a time, more or less, depending on how big the stuff is. Also, every time I change anything in the clip, I have to re-render it to preview the changes.
:uhoh:

I just use it for titles, masking, compositing and motion graphics, but even those I just make the clips then render em out and import to Premier Pro for regular editing since I can get full realtime previews in Premier with no problems.

PRITCHER!! I was thinking before "hmm I wish Pritcher would see this thread" and my wish came true :cutielove:

Yeah... I gave up trying to use AE for this slide show I was gonna do of some photos.. I was gonna make it all 3D like with the photos and animate the transitions there but it was of a pain in the butt with rendering, so I just used it to make the title and that's it... back to sony vegas! It's soo much easier to use @_@!!

Way to go, KT. You had one wish, just one wish to make. "I wish cancer would be cured." Nope, not that one. "I wish mankind would find peace." Nope, not that one, either. You blow the one wish on "Hmm, I wish Pritcher would see this thread." Yeah, that's it! LOL

And here I am just sitting on this cure for cancer too... Oh well. *tosses out the cure* :P

AE can do some really nice titles, lol. When I first started messing with it I spent hours purely on messing around with different ways of doing titles. There are a lot of things it does really really well actually and I can't imagine trying to do certain things without it now. The previewing is by far my biggest gripe with it though. If I could get faster and longer previews with it I'd probably use it a lot more.

I never really got into Vegas, but I tried it out before. I think it comes with a ton of nice little effects and transitions that Premier doesn't really have standard. I think I didn't really like it mostly because I learned Premier first and Vegas was just different from what I was used to. Oughtta work fine for what you got going on though.

LOOOOOOOOOL@JT&Pritcher.

Yeah. I used Premiere too, and I liked it. But ever since I figured out how to use motion tracking in Sony Vegas (panning the camera from right to left etc) I started using Vegas again, cos I didn't know how to get it working in Premiere. I think Sony Vegas interface is a bit easier to use for me compared to premiere, though one down side is that you can only have a maximum of 4 video tracks in Vegas, while you can have unlimited in Premiere (really liked that feature *0*). And Premiere didn't get along with my computer much compared to Vegas so I gotta stick to Vegas now.

Edit: I also wish I could do those nifty titles in AE too. I guess I could but I lack the imagination to do so T__T!!
