When I access the Fiesta Store...

Nothing happens...but when I try to login so that I can buy something, I get an error message saying
"Fiesta.bin has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Well, I don't see the need to post my system specs, but here you are:

1GB RAM
512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS Graphics Card
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.60 GHz (2 CPUs)

Are you trying to enter the cash shop while in-game or while logging into the Outspark website?

Vasu 12-01-2008 03:51 PM

In-game. The cash shop doesn't work at all from the website for me. I click on an item and press "Buy Now", but nothing happens. So I have to use the in-game store, and now it's kicking me if I try to do that.

I havent tried the in-game way in a while. I will try tonight and see if I get the same error as you. I know at one point a while back it was bugged. It may be bugged again.

I suppose I might try reporting it to Outspark. I'm sure they'll be very prompt since it's cash-shop related :P

Though it could simply be a bug from outspark, I've got a few questions.

What anti-virus are you using?
What version of .NET framework do you have?
Are you using a router with your ADSL/Cable modem?

Thanks.

McAfee Security Centre, Uniblue SpyEraser

v 2.0

Yeah I am.

But I don't think it's a problem with my PC because I could access the store before from this PC

Though it may have worked before, many things can happen over time to a computer that you never realise. I think there's conflicting or corrupted software somewhere - nothing serious, just troublesome. It could be Fiesta itself, but since you're experiencing problems accessing the cash shop through your browser I think it's a little deeper.

I suspected it was a problem with your browser, anti-virus, .NET framework or MTU settings. I was going to suggest re-installing, but since you were having problems accessing the shop from your browser I didn't want to go with that.

Here's my little checklist of what I'd like you to do, in order of ease. Feel free not to take any of them on board if you'd rather wait for a response from Outspark.
  • Are you running the latest internet explorer? If not, try updating it. The fiesta store in-game communicates to the server using IE. I find IE a sub-par browser, particularly it's older generations (5.x, 6.x). I suspect a necessary script isn't running properly, if at all. Unfortunately there isn't a way to reconfigure Fiesta store to use your default browser, it's forced to use IE.
  • Update or reinstall your .NET framework. I've found that Fiesta.bin errors are largely associated with a corrupted .NET framework.
  • If you have the McAfee on CD or you're able to reinstall it without trouble, try uninstalling it completely and using AVG temporarily. Though it has great detection, sometimes McAfee can be a little too thorough, denying safe applications necessary access to files.
  • My last solution is changing your connection's MTU. I had trouble accessing the store and uploading files once upon a time. Apparently my router's MTU settings were not working well with Fiesta at all. Using TCPOptimizer I was able to change my MTU and get both the Fiesta store and uploading working. I recommend a setting of 1492 - click optimal and then set it. It's a setting on your PC, so it is fully reversible. The MTU (maximum transmission unit) defines the size of the packets your PC sends over the internet. Big packets are liable to data loss, small packets less likely.
I can't guarantee a fix, but I can at least give it a shot. Hopefully one of these work for you. Otherwise I'll be very interested in any solution you receive from Outspark.

  • Check. I have IE 7, even though I don't use it.
  • Check. I downloaded, installed, and it still doesn't work.
  • This step is a bit extreme for me, as I don't have the CD D:
  • The program just doesn't initialise. I click it from the start menu, and nothing happens. I did the three key salute and checked my running processes, but it wasn't there over there either.

Dynamics 12-03-2008 03:02 PM

The program was made for XP and it's predecessors. Darn, was feeling good about the solutions I suggested. I can't help much if you're a Vista user, since I don't have much on-hands experience with the OS itself. I'm really keen on knowing what's causing the problem or any solutions you might stumble across, so be sure to post when you get it working.

By the way do you have a spare PC to buy cash shop items from at least? Maybe a trip over to the neighbours or to the local library if you want the SC items will do the trick!
