kimbo

This is the video he gets " knocked out" in 14 seconds or w/e ...
i unno in my mind it was a lucky hit from a skinny guy and i dont think
kimbo really got knocked. It was kinda stupid actually. Like ive seen him take a barenuckle pounding and be fine .. lucky shot from the flamer with the pink hair.

how did he fall? looked like he had weak legs =/

Kimbo Slice? Wow. Hell of a name. That can't be his given name, can it? As for the fight itself...why did the ref jump in so soon? The guy's a "street fighter" from the leadup, being on the ground for a bit doesn't mean much. ::shrug::

MikeyG 10-09-2008 03:04 AM

Have you ever watched kimbos fights? it doesnt go tot he ground he usually KNOCKS people the fuck out before it goes that far.

Spirit 10-09-2008 03:31 AM

My husband and I was watching the fight the other night. I do not think that they should have stopped it. Kimbo was still going after him.

There have been worse fights than that and guys taking a lot worse beatings. The ref overreacted. He should have let the fight go on.

I think I just like a Slate article over this or maybe an MSNBC article.

I think they said they main reason they stopped the fight was because Kimbo was basically what their entire franchise was based on. Kimbo going down was like their franchise going down.

On an unrelated note...

In my 11th grade year, I was on Constitution Team. During State Finals, we were like, "Screw this. If we forget a court case, we're going to use Kimbo vs. Mercer, (2007).

xDDD

you guys dont follow MMA much do you?

Calling the TKO was the right call. Kimbo went down and was not defending himself intelligently. If a guy is taking blows to his head and not defending himself, the ref is obligated to call it.

doesn't matter either way. Kimbo is trash. he's big, he throws bombs, that's not special. He had a 4" reach advantage on petruzelli, but he charged in? a supremely average MMA fighter 30 pounds lighter than Kimbo put him on the ground with a punch that didn't even land flush.

hypebeast to hasbeen in 14 seconds.

Yeah hes not that great compared to other guys ( forest, hughs, serra, st pierre)
But he was 3 n 0 and he wasnt that bad when he fought ray mercer.
His problem is hes slow and more of a boxer. People have speed over his strength.

Pedobear 10-09-2008 05:26 AM

He's your typical bouncer/body guard/street fighter type. He's a better fighter than your average joe off the street but he's not a good fighter by any stretch of the imagination.

He's a big dude, and when he lands a solid punch on you, you go down. Unfortunately he's not trained in any true formal martial arts. You cant get by in big time MMA by just being huge. Even most power boxers dont get far without learning some defense and pick up a bit of foot speed.

That is why when he was offered a huge amount of cash by Dana White to fight in the UFC he declined. He knew that is what would happen to him if he went up against top level fighters. I am glad he got taken down. Now maybe people will realize he is not such a superstar. I don't like Tito Ortiz, but since he has now joined the Elite XC I would love to see him and Kimbo fight.

If you ever watch the video of him and the white cop that beat him, every time the cop got him down or kneed him, Kimbo's people came running in and stopped them. Ummm it's a street fight, there are no rules in a street fight.
