Constructive Criticism Welcome!!
From what I have experienced I believe it is better to AOE in the Abyss on most of your levels than any other area(at least on the 50s and 60s since thats all I have experienced). I know a lot of people probably don't believe this, but actually most of the levels I have gained have been just been grinding in the abyss. I gained about 2 and a half levels one day in the level 60s(which is like somewhere around 12 million experience) and doing some quests. I did not use the big golden bat quest to accomplish this either for those who are in the 60s and know what I mean.
Here are some reasons I believe this is true: 1. After killing one of them you realize that their attack is about 1/3 that of an enemy of the same amount of experience(if even that). So on that same note you can handle a lot more enemies in the abyss than at most other places. 2. There are a lot more enemies in the abyss in one area to AOE than anywhere else. And because of this, most of the time you can have an area to your self/party to grind instead of having some other players KS most of your enemies where you can't do anything about it! 3. Also from point 2. if someone does get in your area and starts killing the monsters that you believe as yours(which I normally believe they are mine:p) then you can actually do something about it as long as it isn't a party bigger than yours that your taking on. :nahnah: 4. The spawn rate in the abyss is usually a lot faster too when it comes to grinding. I think the spawn is around 1 minute for each enemy. So that goes along with being able to kill enemies constantly so you don't have to sit around and wait for them to spawn. 5. This isn't much of a reason but also the enemies don't have a TON of hp so usually it is pretty easy to kill them as long as you area a fairly strong character. If aren't very dependent on STR or INT(depending if your a mage) though it will be just as tough by yourself than if you grind any other place. Although in a party it will probably be more helpful. If your one of those people who likes to grind alone though I wouldn't recommend grinding in the abyss too much. Since because of some of the reasons stated above(statement 3. *cough*) it wouldn't be the smartest thing since some people strive on just killing people in the abyss. And being by yourself isn't bad if you think you can handle it, but there are some people who will wait for you to obtain a huge mob of enemies just to attack you also. So even if you are one of the strongest characters around...even then its not likely you'll live. So heres an example of an AOE place that everyone seems to love: Killing Blue Clover Trumpies in AEW(Ancient Elven Woods) Now here is the main problems with this: 1. Everyone seems to love going to this area and some people are respectful and stay away from the enemies you are rounding up but most people will take some of your enemies to grind for themselves. Because of this you obtain less enemies with each pull thus resulting in less experience. 2. On that note also there definitely aren't nearly as many Blue Clover Trumpies around to kill. So when you do pull a lot of them you aren't pulling nearly as many as you would in the abyss. 3. Most of the time if you are grinding these by yourself this is not the area to do it in because when a party comes along they WILL take your area. It's possible they will invite you to their party(which would be nice of them) but sometimes this doesn't happen. 4. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I'm pretty sure the spawn rate is definitely slower thus resulting in you waiting around a lot for them to spawn again. Ok so I know what all of you are thinking. Yes, you do obtain more experience from defeating Trumpies than you do than enemies in the abyss. And because of this most people believe you obtain more experience by doing that. But if you really grind in the abyss, and I mean really grind then you will obtain a TON more experience there than anywhere else. Of course this does go into how well you work together as teammates and how fast you kill enemies, yes thats true. If it takes you longer to kill enemies in the abyss then of course it will take longer than probably killing AEW. But if you can kill fast and keep gathering enemies you will definitely understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks for reading!! Like I said constructive criticism is welcome!! |
If I sound weird I'm sorry but I just woke up... but anyway...
I do agree with you. I had spent most of my levels in the Abyss. But I had solo'd majority of the time there as well. From 50 onwards I had usually taken up a free room by myself and AoE'd there. Definitely much more exp than if I had solo'd outside. At least when I was in the Abyss I was one level range lower than the rest of the group (the now capped players) so I had little to worry about in terms of getting killed or spot stolen. And not to mention the generous exp increase in quests weren't there either... But playing my Cleric now I think that 30~50... it might just be better to do quests now. The quests give out a good chunk of exp and the mobs though they may hit a little harder has less HP than the ones in the Abyss so it's faster kill anyway. That's just me though. In terms of the Trumpies. Ugh. It's even harder now. It used to be that you had a choice of either the blues or the reds. But beause they moved all the red ones into the trees with the rest of the mobs AND spread them out you can't gather them properly now. So people really have no other choice in AEW. Another good option for the 7x is the Trumpy Remains. They hit harder and have more HP but with a good party it's good exp nonetheless. Even when I go in there with a guildmate (who isn't a Cleric) we get about 2~3%+ while trying to hunt down the GH. |
Yeah I don't have any idea how it is from less than level 50 thats why I mentioned I only had experience from levels 50-60. I played awhile back before they had the abyss(or if they did I didn't know about it, was like last November, December) and was up in the lower 50s then quit for awhile. So I wasn't sure how that was on the lower levels. Yeah I try to do quests as much as possible and depending on the quest, it's usually better to do the quest instead of grinding so probably on the lower levels it is better. I just wasn't really sure but thanks, thats good to know!

Well..Soon as archers get natures mist, alllll that nice xp starts a rollin in ;D

No criticism... i agree 100%.
Abyss definitely is far better exp than normal map. More drops too! AOE Trumpies was a thing people did when we had no Abyss, and maybe for people that's in different level range.. But as a cleric i rely on other AOEers... so solo abyss doesnt work for me LOL But yeah, i got 7% in an hr duoing with an archer... probably 10% an hr in a full party AOE with mages... grinding 2 hrs straight once.. but that was very tiring... everyone said they needed a break even though we're getting awesome EXP LOL |
Even though i'm only lvl 2x abyss is great exp.
Even if you solo its better then regular monsters. |
Questing works well for me because I can get friends and guildies to help me. Everyone says that the 6x abyss is pretty crowded, but I can't seem to find a party in there (I only see individuals, also soloing) and none of my active guildies are in the 6x range. It's more fun and easier for me if I do my quests instead. Solo-abyssing is very cool though. |

Oh wait, you're 6x! That's okay, I prefer soloing. Just kidding! XD I tend to lag when partying, which is very annoying. More lag in 6x abyss, which has next to no one in it, than in 5x, which is full of parties everywhere. |
We still did well last time. Even with all those orcs after my blood.
