Zip Files

I just zipped some files up and sent it to some work related ppl

they came back and said they cant open it :sigh:

Questions: Can macs open zip files?

I thought all windows can open zip files...

is there ANY reason why someone cant open a zip file.... except for that they're computer illiterate?

Loveless 08-08-2008 05:36 AM

I don't know how Macs work but it should be compatible with all computers. If you have Windows you can just click on the button that says "Extract Files" at the top bar or to the side. Unless they have some other program that does it such as WinRAR... but then again if they have this program they should know how to use it anyway.

Hessah 08-08-2008 05:38 AM

Yeah, i made sure that its .zip

so all they had to do was double click it and it should open like a normal folder...

ahhhh stupid ppl who doesnt know how to use a computer...

I had the receptionist ask me "hester how do I save a picture as .jpg, i only know how to paste it in word doc" :sigh:

Loveless 08-08-2008 05:43 AM

LMAO

Yes, so you tell them to double click and then 'extract' it. They can even select the file inside and just drag it out of the window to their desktop. Or open up another window with their prefered destination and drag & drop in there. Should be pretty straight forward...

^^OMGLOLLLLLLLL

xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Pasting in Word is actually.... really hard sometimes. @_@

And zip files should work on Mac. I just checked.

Unless they have a reallly, really, really old version of Mac.... :sigh:

I'm not allowed to talk to them... =/ so i have to make it foolproof

i've just sent them 20 emails with 1 file attached to them each... LOL

(we've tried sending all 20 attachments in 1 email and it didnt go through...)

Esen 08-08-2008 05:48 AM

Hmm.. Can only think of one other thing.

The file being corrupted or incomplete.

Loveless 08-08-2008 05:48 AM

:zomg:

-doesn't understand how they can't understand-

Ralath 08-08-2008 05:50 AM

Maybe you should just paste it into a word document for them....

The receptionist thinks that seems to work.

Hessah 08-08-2008 05:52 AM

incomplete might be the case too hmmm

i just wanna make sure i'm correct in saying ALL computer CAN open zip files...

Its amazing working with people that doesnt understand computers...

my boss' email, you start a new email and u get this:

And he goes... I dont have enough space to type between the first line and siggy...

(never occurred to him to use the ENTER button)

i ended up just making his siggy with extra blank spaces so it looks like he's got more room....

EDIT: she needed the file in jpg... she's already got the picture in word doc, but u cant say .jpg in word doc
