Lots of debate about this. Some people involve it with science.

I personally think they're a colour.

kirbysprite 07-04-2008 03:23 PM

Why wouldn't it be a color?

Ralath 07-04-2008 06:37 PM

Because black is an absence of color while white is... all the colors?

I dunno.

But even so, I still think they are colors.

wrong way round ^

I hate counterintuitive things.

Basically, color is how your brain percieves various wavelengths of light as reflected/absorbed by an object. When an object reflects all of the radiation in the visible spectrum, your brain percieves that as being "white" while if an object absorbs all of the light it is percieved as being "black" with other colors being the result of absorbing/reflecting of the other wavelengths in varying degrees in the visible spectrum.

So, in short, yes, white is a color and black is not a color (as it is an absence of reflected spectrum).

It's widely accepted that black is not a color, while white is.

When white light hits an object it reflects a color. When no color is reflected, their is no wave reflection which makes black.

Ralath 07-04-2008 09:38 PM

Well.

To me, black and white are both colors.

My Crayola box says it's so.

ThievingSix 07-04-2008 09:49 PM

Well, your crayola box is .. WRONG!! NOW HOW WILL YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE KNOWING THAT?!?!

srabble031 07-04-2008 10:38 PM

but crayola know all ._.

Glad to see that some people actually know about wavelength spectrums and what they do.

A+
