The end of OS

Just saw an announcememnt that Fiesta is being transferred to Gamigo effective immediately and other OS games are being shutdown. This should be interesting.....
:zomg:

Sinusoid 02-07-2013 09:38 AM

Yeah, every game of OS has been shut down with only Fiesta left and transfered to Gamigo. They say that IP blocks between US and EU has been removed. Though everything stays the same, or so I think.

Vasu 02-07-2013 09:59 AM

It's definitely a bit jarring as I was actually still active-ish on the game. Glad it's not an abrupt halt unlike the other OS games though. I wasn't reading any announcements, so I definitely didn't see this coming.

Yosei 02-07-2013 09:24 PM

What happened? x.x Did the company go bankrupt or something?

Hessah 02-07-2013 09:34 PM

Have they been having server issues?

I'm playing this other game that has much more severe server issues than Fiesta, and that company is still alive... (the game is older than Fiesta too..)

Or maybe that's where they make money.. build a game up then sell it for good $$.

Yosei 02-07-2013 09:38 PM

Nope their whole site is down x.x

outspark.com

When you go to the outspark site (not necessarily Fiesta), all you get is a letter from Gamigo saying that they'll be taking over Fiesta and all accounts, including spark cash, will be transfered.

Helion 02-08-2013 02:28 AM

All other OS games were shut down - only Fiesta survived, probably because it was the cash cow. I had been playing 7 Dragons for over a year, and it was drawing only 1000 or so active players worldwide. My guess is they just couldn't suck enough money from Fiesta to survive.....

Vasu 02-08-2013 04:03 AM

Yep, Fiesta is the only survivor of all the OS games. The Luvinia players are absolutely enraged/depressed, and I can't really blame them. Supposedly OS had a discount sale for some highly coveted 30 day item 2 days before they got shut down... talk about bad business ethics.

Oh that's just cruel!!

Vasu 02-08-2013 04:19 AM

It feels more than a bit weird. Despite the fact that not many of us play Fiesta regularly any more, it's the end of the company that brought most of us together, and I don't feel sorry for them.

Yosei 02-08-2013 05:01 AM

"Outspark" still technically exists, it's just now Gamigo US San Francisco. The companies merged. So if you have sparkcash, it's still there, it just transferred to the Gamigo equivalent. Same with your account, items, etc. And any money Outspark has been making as of late is likely already going to Gamigo.

lol

Vasu 02-08-2013 05:08 AM

Ah, but the item I was talking about was for Luvinia, which is no longer available to play.

MikeyG 02-08-2013 07:25 PM

UASHuifdAHSifugAIPsugfas

My reaction to Luvinia being shut down ..
The game seemed to have a large enough population
to keep it going .. guess not though.

Yosei 02-08-2013 09:49 PM

If anyone still plays Fiesta, let me know if you will have to transfer or patch the game. I know there are some differences in the US and EU Fiesta, such as names of mobs and such. If all of the names from US Fiesta are gone, the wiki may have to be updated.

Hessah 02-09-2013 03:39 AM

it sounds like it's not a merge of server.. coz otherwise you'll have people with same character names...

Yosei 02-09-2013 04:13 AM

Yeah it sounds like it won't be changing much... just company name. I was told they're still in the same building, same people, just no longer going by "Outspark".

Vasu 02-09-2013 05:06 AM

No need for any transfer, just need to patch your launcher. Fiesta US is going to remain a separate entity from Fiesta EU with slightly different game mechanics and content. The game actually still says "Outspark" on the server selection screen.

As for the staff, from the forums, most people think that the GMs and technical staff are still the same while all the CSRs have been changed or something. Or that might just be what they were hoping for haha.

It would appear that Outspark was sued on February 1st for using a patented method for caching data between users, the server, and the users ISP on their servers. Upon being sued, they realized that they could possibly lose a lot of money as well as other things (servers, data.. etc..) and decided to sell out what they had to Gamigo, a foreign company, which would not be affected by U.S. laws. Whether or not Outspark was guilty of the offense seems quite debatable to me however, it is what it is. After researching a bit, it seems this company (SharedParallel Networks) is a very sue happy company that grasps at whatever straws they can get (Just Google the company's name and you will understand what I mean by 'sue happy'...). So, did Outspark do the right thing? For those of you that play Fiesta I think you should be grateful for them selling their license to Gamigo. It was quite a wise decision on their part. They saved our precious NA Fiesta Server data (i.e, your hard work and money..), pocketed some money, and destroyed any such evidence that could possibly be found to convict them guilty of breaking the patent. As much as we'd love to say Outspark didn't care, facts show otherwise guys. If they didn't care they could have let the game go under, but instead they did what they could to keep the game alive.

Ralath 02-10-2013 07:51 AM

dun dun dun.... the plot thickens..

Yosei 02-10-2013 04:45 PM

Doesn't matter for the company suing them now. Outspark is completely gone. All of their employees and their office are now ran by another company.

Kind of amazed with this, but I guess it shouldn't be that surprising. My last few visits to the world of Fiesta haven't been very blog-worthy personally (crappy community, being absurdly poor compared to current players, etc). Plus there are a bunch of private servers that don't require thousands of hours to cap level or money for cool items, so yeah, understandable...

DRAMAAA~

Hopefully we get some other servers that go up now. OS had them like all shut down, other than project eden or the other "old servers" where players are rebirthed 239183278 times.

Our server Victus is coming back online soon. And Onson/OS/Gamigo rarely go for servers, only once or twice have they actually tried anything.

Also some of you might remember me as Kreain on here, it's been a loooong time.

adityac3688 04-04-2013 08:21 PM

Damn, I miss Outspark :/, I dont know why but for around 3 years its been a great memory with me.

urivor 05-19-2013 09:00 PM

so.. in short, os only popular game was fiesta /(the only one giving profit) and they reached a point where they could no longer mantain the other games, for this the whole site was taken over by amigo x.x

There are rumors around why Outspark went down. Many thing they over-invested in games that did not bring much profit. There is also the article on Outspark being sued for stealing a patented system for their cash shop system. And the company suing them was going to bankrupt them.

Either way, yeah, Outspark is now Gamigo. It's still all of the same people, same building, but a different company. I have a friend who works for Gamigo and he's over there training the Outspark employees. He might be done now actually.
