Earth 2100
 

Last night on TV there was a show called Earth 2100 which discussed what scientists predict could happen if we stick with the path we've been going down. it was quite good, and discussed climate change, water shortage, government failing to contain it, floods, hurricanes, mass migrations of animals, etc.

So i was wondering if anyone else watched it, and if so, what you think of it.

did they list any positives?
like a way to counter climate change, a way to get more water or save more of it, improved government, solution for natural disasters, etc

they did for like, 5 minutes at the end of it. mostly it was just apoctalyptic stuff about what's gonna happen if we DONT find a global way to fight this thing.

Remember, they're just theories.

There are many theories on the path of the environment. Years ago, scientists said hurricane season was going to have more and more hurricanes, but then they took it back when there might actually be less and less.

We should take heed of these predictions. They often come true.

But they also said that based on the math, to keep up our current consumption rate, we would have to have the resources of 4 earths. :/

Then watch the movie Children of Men ;p thats based off of a popular novel and theory.

That is assuming that the population growth is linear, isn't it?

If we suddenly have a million Octomoms... or WWIII, the population count will be drastically different.

i think it's possible it meant that, though it could also mean that if we continue exhausting resources at the current rate we are, they'll eventually deplete. it used easter island as a metaphore.
