Terrible Things
 

Just read an article on "Rape victim jailed for adultery released from jail.

Firstly, I just looked up "adultery" on dictionary.com, and the definition is: voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than his or her lawful spouse.

How can someone be put into jail for voluntary sexual intercourse when they were raped?

She's now been released, but people are suggesting that she should marry her attacker.

I know there's lots of bad things that happen around the world, but it's horrifying to read/hear these real individual stories.

that entire thing... it's just... absurd to me. it's just so completely ridiculous i can't believe i'm reading it.

They live in a whole other type of society as us =/

Not the first time such a thing has happened either. Atleast this one was only jailed and released. There have been stonings and executions for the same. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or a religious thing, but either way, it's beyond disgusting. It's one of the many things that's come close to making me a nihilist.

This image was suppose to show that both cultures are dominated by males right? I know that is true but the severity is completely different. Something like that would never happen here in the states. Even though we still got lots of problems, I'm glad we have progressed as far as we have, especially when comparing to afghan. Truly sad that kind of ignorance is still in the world today.
