D:
My dad thinks someone poisoned our dog.
Last night my dad let our dog out to go to the bathroom, and when he let him in, he soon noticed something in he house smelled really bad, similar to the smell of a skunk. He looked all around the house and finally realized it was the dog. He let it go with the excuse the dog ran into a skunk or the garbage. Other than that, there's nothing we have that he could have actually gotten into. Today our dog was acting weird. He was acting as if he was blind. He kept running into stuff. Then eventually his legs stopped working, so for the majority of the night, hes just been lying there. My dads going to take him to the vet in the morning. My dads all stressed because he's afraid we will have to get the dog put to sleep. We've had this dog for 11 years now D: But this seems to have always happened to our pets. One of our dogs got shot, two poisoned, and someone tried to hang our cat. Now this dog. Why are people so heartless when it comes to animals??? |
O_O
are there some kinda strange kids in teh neighbourhood? |
Not 100% sure he was poisoned. But he sure is acting like something is wrong with him. Yesterday he was fine.
|
It might be just me but i dun think these
stories that u sometimes write really need to be shown to everyone. Not that im trying to be meen but i meen i dun no your dog, he might jus have food poisening. I might be the first one to say it, and seem like an asshole, but i could really care less. |
One sec, gonna grab one of my vet books and look up these symptoms for you. Yea, I have a heart after all. =P Brb~
|
O_O

I need to know these things:
How lethargic is the dog? If you shine a light in its eyes do the pupils dilate or contract, will he follow the light if you move it around? Is he drinking over-excessivly or not drinking enough? Does he eat if you offer him food or a treat? |
Again Yosei, i wasnt trying to be meen but this probably
will end up being your dog ate something bad and isnt feeling well. And you dont see me posting my life story, maybe its different with girls but i just had my great aunt, whom i was very close to, die this morning. it may be why im getting a little worked up about this but ... |
And all most people are gunna say are half-assed attempts
at hoping your dog gets better. |

Well the only reason I'm asking+giving medical advice is because skunks are one of the species of animal who can carry rabies their whole life but not be affected by it, but can still pass it on to other animals who are, but dogs don't usually show signs of it that soon, plus it seems a bit like something else to me, but yeah I'd like to know the other symptoms
|
I could care less if people respected my feelings that i don't know.
But I guess i can atleast try and be considerate =.= I probably come off as the rudest asshole but honestly im blunt, im gunna tell u how i feell and if you dont like it, i could care less, its my opinion and i feel thats what you should be expecting when u post something on a public forum. |
Those I'm not sure about =/ I haven't handled the dog today. This is all what my dad has told me. But long term, I do know he eats and drinks normally. 3 times a day, and we have water for him at all time. I feel uncomfortable letting him sit over night without knowing whats wrong with him or if he'll get worse.
He's asleep right now im my parents room. |
Okay. It sounds like he might have gotten into something such as insecticides or pesticides. Most symptoms for a dog that has somehow gotten these in its body are:
hypersalivation (drooling a lot), vomiting, lethargy, tremors, difficulty walking, weakness, and death. This doesn't mean he was poisoned - if you or your neighbor was using these things, or even flea and tick powder - stuff like that, he might have eaten something that had it on it, or inhaled it. So if he starts vomiting or shaking, you need to take him to the vet immediatly. However if he doesn't, but also doesn't start walking tomorrow, you need to take him. Just make sure for now the dog has a fresh and frequent supply of water nearby. |
O-mie the vet O_O
|
Oh yah also - did the "Skunk smell" go away on its own or ...? Skunks are nasty things and can carry multiple little diseases so you never know, if he got bit ors omething by one >_> it might be something else.
|
lmao xD Not quite mikey, I did go to vet school for a little, though. :3
|
Thanks, hopefully he'll be fine, or atleast til we get him to the vet.
He doesn't smell anymore, it was just last night. |
LOL,
and i think i defended my first comment good if people arnt ragging on me anymore. |
Mhm. I wouldn't worry too much unless the symptoms get worse, though. Ask your neighbors if they've been using pesticides or something ;o and tell them to gtfo with it, lmao.
|
LMAO. That should be how everyone deals with stuff.
|
xD Well, there is another possible cause - and I really hope its not the case
Its a disease called parvovirus - which is mostly found in puppies and older dogs (but it can still be acquired by adult dogs in their younger years) not all animals can get it, but they can still carry it. So if the dog begins to have really bad diarrhea and loses its appetitite, yeah..welly ou already get it when I Say if the conditions worsen take it to th vet. =P I can't do much but tell you what to do, haha xD |
- now makes his half-assed attempt at consulting yosei -
you dog will get better soon, dun worry! |
O_O
Holy Crap... Omies pro... Can you check me up??? I have pains in my... |
Serodin...
|
What do you call the thing below the knee and the leg?
|
Below the knees and the legs...
Feet?! Toes? Ankles? |
Do you mean between the knee and the leg?
|
Shin.
|
I'm not really sure, I know it's around there somewhere. Not the toes [XD] not the feet [LMAO]. Never heard of "shin" though
@ vasu ~ you fail. Thought I was gonna say P.Nus did ya... =P |
I think you have the Shin Splints.
|
Shin splints
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Shin splints Classification and external resources Anatomy of the shin. ICD-9 844.9 Shin splints is a general term used to refer to a painful condition in the shins.[1] It is often caused by running or jumping, and may be very slow to heal. ~Crap. |
Did u really mean shin? coz i typed shin (in between the "Feet" and "toes") but i edited it and took it out thinking, shin isnt below the "legs" technically..
|
Anyways, you're not an animal Serodin, or are you?

As I said I have no idea... I got it from basketball I think, unsure...
@ vasu ~ you @$$ XD -smacks- What's a shin again? |
I recommend you go to the doctor. Getting online help may benefit you in the short term, but for long term treatment, your general practictioner would be best.
