Who lives in Melbourne?

I know there are a lot of Melbourne-ers here, so let me pop you guys a question.

What are some good places to go to in Melbourne on a short holiday? I think I'm going to Melbourne later this year but we don't know what good places there are to visit in Melbourne. Preferably not sight seeing (if there's any there) since that's boring.. unless it's some really really pretty sight then I guess it's cool. Oh and if it's places that requires a lot of money (like er $40-50+) then.. maybe not since we're not loaded. xD

So, any ideas? Thanks!

Dynamics 08-11-2007 03:43 PM

Try me and chinh's houses. They're great. Affordable too.

Blaaaaaaaah 08-11-2007 03:56 PM

Oh, if that's all, then I think I won't go Melbourne at all. ;~;

Dynamics 08-11-2007 04:13 PM

Did I mention chinh lived in a three story mansion with a wet water slide?

Anyway, what did you mean by good places to visit? If you aren't talking about sight seeing, I don't think there are any spectacular hotels to go to. Maybe the Rialto, since the view there is the highest you can get. It's the tallest hotel in Melbourne I think.

Yeah, he told me he is the slave there that works for the owners of the mansion.

Good places to visit as in... well, I guess I'm just asking what's there to do in Melbourne. Where to have some fun? I know you guys have a Luna Park.. we're planning to go to this Pixar exhibition.. something like that, you know?

Dynamics 08-11-2007 04:21 PM

There just isn't that much to do in my opinion. Anything I have in mind for you to do, you could most likely do in Sydney. Since you'll be coming in summer, the beach is always nice.

Here's a good link for upcoming events in Melbourne:
http://www.thatsmelbourne.com.au/inf...&pg=2191&li=82

lollerskates @ asian food festival.

There's 522 events to shuffle through, at the top right is a search field where you can choose to limit the search to a particular period of time. It's probably best to use that method to get through everything.

Blaaaaaaaah 08-11-2007 04:29 PM

o: ASIAN FOOD FESTIVAL? AWESOME.

Thanks for the link, I'll look through that!

Dynamics 08-11-2007 04:39 PM

No problem. Hope to see you posting on the forums from a Melbourne-based computer some time in the future .__.

a.L 08-12-2007 11:36 AM

Go to Footscray. Seriously, it's the best suburb in Melbourne.

Dynamics 08-12-2007 11:51 AM

lollerskates. If you're wondering, Footscray's also known as FOE hometown.

Doubt it, it's only going to be a 4-day thing so I don't think I'll use a computer during that time, xD.

Footscray? What's there to do there? When I read it, I thought it said "footspray", LOL!

a.L 08-12-2007 11:58 AM

Also known as Foosiecray (or Fobscray by me), Footscray provides many sources of entertainment. Such as:
- Eating pho
- Eating Vietnamese Pork Rolls
- More pho
- Even more pho
- Had enough pho? Well, there's even more where that came from!
- Walking along the sticky floors of the market (Highly recommended)
- And of course, eating more pho.

Oh yeah...avoid phizzie's place at all costs.

a.L 08-12-2007 12:12 PM

Probably.. if you look hard enough.

Here's a hint: My place. ;D

Dynamics 08-12-2007 12:18 PM

You forgot about the fish market. You can smell it from two suburbs away.

Sunshine/scumshine's worth a gander too.

Belaslav 08-12-2007 12:37 PM

Bla~h, why do you even wanna go to Melbourne? There are many great places like Florida and Cuba!

Niion 08-12-2007 10:01 PM

Well, As I have mentioned before, I have invented/screated Melbourne.
You should visit Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. There's never a dull moment there, and it's free. You might even want to stop by Faerie Land, which is also free. Nothing beats cute tiny faeires with cute tiny crowns that float :D

NavMan 08-13-2007 09:41 AM

We could meet up and go watch a movie or something.

Anyway Melbourne is probably the most sophisticated city in Australia, tourists visit Melbourne generally for the many events, food/dining or shopping. There is a long list of attractions that you can see(though they are not as outstanding as the Harbour Bridge or Opera House) including... erm...

Gambling = Crown Casino (Biggest casino in the world, in terms of size)
WTF?!!! = Federation Square (You'll know what I mean if you see it)
Highest point in Melbourne = Rialto (Overlook the city, though there isn't much to see ;3; )
Shopping = Bourke Street Mall or Chadstone shopping center.
MCG = Biggest stadium in the Southern Hemisphere after the soccer one in Brazil.
Footscray = Come and I'll shout you Foe D;
Cafes and shit = Flinder's lane

Don't go to our Zoo/Aquarium, though they're big, they're boring.

And you should come during the Australian Open, it it's not too late.

SHOPPING? YEAH!

I bet my sis's boyfriend wouldn't be happy about that though, heh!

Antagonist 08-13-2007 10:47 AM

Stalk Sundays/LickTofu, steal his car, and go over to Chinh's house and slap him. I would have a merry time doing that.

That is a great idea, indeed. I might as well kill him to end it once and for all.

The place you mentioned reminded me of Neopets.

Awesome, but I don't really know Lick so I shouldn't really kill him. It would have been better if you and Phizzie lived close to Chinh though. I mean, that's killing three birds with one stone - EVEN BETTER!

a.L 08-13-2007 12:54 PM

Phizzie lives 10-15 mins away from chinh, I live one hour away. LOL
Oh yeah, Dynamics lives somewhere inbetween Chinh and Phizzie, if I'm not mistaken.

chinhchinh 08-13-2007 12:59 PM

When people say from Chinh, they assume Blaaahs wants to kill me first.

a.L 08-13-2007 01:09 PM

I would assume so.

NavMan 08-13-2007 01:19 PM

No one knows where I live >:3
