Should I be powerleveled?

What are the pros and cons for being powerleveled?

Ralath 04-27-2008 09:48 PM

Pros:
  • You level fast.

Cons:
  • You miss out on working on your production skills.
  • You miss out on the social aspects.
  • You miss out on how to properly play your class through trial and error.
  • You miss out on fame points.
  • You miss out on quest items/rewards.
  • You miss out on building friendships with people who are around your level.
  • People generally dislike people who are plvled.

. Most people know if you've been powlvled.
. You miss out on the game.

My points were made ^.

Lol. I'm lv. 29 and I've never trained myself since lv. 15 ;)

I think plvling owns... but yeah there are some downfalls.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Pros:
- Leveling fast.
- Less boring. (If you aren't watching.)

Cons:
- No money for skills and armor. Big problem.
- 99% of them act like idiots.
- I hate them. ^.^

But say you get higher lvls... and then you have someone in your pt, or wherever you are ask you something about the game...

what're you going to say?

"Sorry... I was plvled through that part... I don't know."

I'm sure people won't appreciate that response much =/

Oh no, I wasn't even thinking of the paid plvl. No, no, no. Only consider it if friends or guildies will help you with it.

Heh well.. idk :p But when I turn 30, I train with just friend (who is same lvl as me)

Hessah 04-28-2008 12:25 AM

Ralath pretty much said it all~

I just got 1 more..

Con: You wont feel "satisfied" like you've achieved something, because your levels are gained by others and not yourself.

But then one could argue that they don't care about getting to that point... only the end result...

so in essence... they've got a capped/high lvl char... so they're pro at the game.

/false.

Hessah 04-28-2008 01:26 AM

kekek well, anyone could argue that "they dont care" about any of the con points posted above kekeke

I just pointed out wat I feel as important that they're gonna miss out on...

Loveless 04-28-2008 01:29 AM

I dislike power levelers. It's pretty obvious who were power leveled and I especially dislike them coming into KQ.

Ralath explained it very well... :3 I can never see myself power leveling or being power leveled. I lose out on all those items... >_<

nekoneko 04-28-2008 02:27 AM

yeah dislikes the power leveling myself, no drops and well frankly, the newbies don't understand the concept of how to play their class. I mean, if your lvl 30, you should have a grasp of how to use your character...otherwise there is something totally wrong.

lyoko37 04-28-2008 02:28 AM

Powerleveling? pfft I got a better idea. :p

Learn the game. If you pick up on it fast enough you can level really quick, learn, earn stuff, and have a crap ton of fun :D

Pebbles 04-28-2008 02:36 AM

I know the game, but it takes me 3 weeks just to lvl 1 lvl. =/

oOAnubisOo 04-28-2008 03:51 AM

I think that through normal play aspects, if you join a good guild and do all your quests you lvl pretty fast. I focus on quests right when I lvl and then party alot. Though I am a Cleric and it's not usually an issue for me to find a party. I really just think it's key to find a group you can hang with alot and like, Share questing and just have fun! Being lvl70 isn't a priority. Although AeW is awfully pretty and I can't wait to see what lies elsewhere. But you have to learn the game also. Granted I have given up a few (repeatable)quests for just being sick of poor reward. As for paying for lvling, omg noooo. Last thing I need is to be in a party w/a lvl50 tank who has a lvl5 mentality, been there, done that.

Blaaaaaaaah 04-28-2008 04:16 AM

I help power level friends and I also get power levelled myself on my alts (by friends).

Power levelling is okay to me as long as it's an alt, I suppose. I disagree to powerlevel when you are completely new to the game and on your first char, but it's not that bad for your alts... as long as you don't turn out to be ignorant and refuse to do your job... or refusing to learn how to play it.

Really depends on the actual player.

But yeah, generally power level is looked down on.

Enraya 04-28-2008 08:02 AM

I agree with what Ralath said xD

But even more, I disagree with powerleveling because you never know who you're missing out on, what kind of stuff you'll never get to experience, etc D: If you've already got friends that decided to plvl you and you know the game well enough and have a good grip, then that's okay. I don't care about plvling if it's like that. But when you get to a high level and you have absolutely zero people on your friends list and no guild, who are you going to turn to?

Yosei 04-28-2008 02:41 PM

If you're thinking of getting plvled, I'd just suggest not to. Its more satisfying leveling on your own. When you plvl you get backed up....

1. lots of quests to do
2. skills to get
3. you dont make much money

Ethelinde 04-28-2008 03:48 PM

Do not get plvled. I was plvled (sort of, since I'm low level cleric healing high level players), but if you get too used to easy exp it'll hit you hard in the future. I didn't discovered how satisfying to fill up the last bubble on your own until recently.

Ulrike 04-28-2008 07:14 PM

I vote against powerleveling as well. Mostly for the "you won't know how to play your character properly" reason
