Spartan Laser can be good as or better than a sniper.
I use Spartan Laser, Beam Rifle, and Sniper, so doesn't affect me if which is bad or which is good, all same to me.

What do you just hold it tell it's going to shoot constantly but release if nobody is there?

With Snipe at least, I get less shouting that I'm a spamming noob ~__~

nope, I don't just stand there and shoot constantly if nothing is there. I can cancel my charge of laser any time I want, until I find someone to shoot at.

Halo 3 is so hard.

I almost died on Easy.

I had to get like 2 feet in front of the enemy before I could hit them.

Good thing my lizard-y looking partner always killed the bad guys before they got to me.
