Old Warrior 04-10-2008 02:53 AM

Yosei 04-10-2008 02:55 AM

Everytime I see a word spelled differently.. or well, the autralian/british way, I feel stupid.

04-10-2008 02:59 AM

lol im so lost cuz im so younge haahaha :cool:

Hessah 04-10-2008 03:05 AM

LOL!!! i didnt mean to confuse all of you ppl that lives in the other side of the world! XD

Just for the fun of it... let see wat is spelt differently in American and British/Aussie

Favourite = Favorite
Flavour = Flavor
Colour = Color
Gaol = Jail <--- although most ppl use "Jail" here now..
Cheque = Check
Programme = Program <--- most ppl use Program as well
Honour = Honor

I think mainly just all the "-our" is changed to "-or" XD

LOL. I guess that is how it makes me feel... That I don't know something that's really common knowledge. Psh, America still outnumbers the UK and AU in population, probably even when combined. Over-population ftw.

Ditto...

Hessah 04-10-2008 04:53 AM

now u guys makes me feel odd that i spell everything differently =/

Esen 04-10-2008 05:00 AM

The only thing unfamiliar to me on that list is the jail one. o-o

Sometimes when I'm not paying attention, I use the British/Aussie spelling for a couple of words ending in -or. Not sure why... Maybe because I think it looks better xD

Hyper 04-10-2008 05:01 AM

^Lmao! Don't feel odd! America had to use all newer (non-original!) versions of all those words, after all! ;o I think Webster changed it to make stupid people have an easier time reading. xD we iz Smrt

Hessah 04-10-2008 05:03 AM

LOL@hyper!

yeah gaol is rarely, rarely used now... programme is still sort of common...

totally off topic: i was just looking at Esen's siggy and i thought "that would actually look pretty cool as a tattoo..."

Esen 04-10-2008 05:06 AM

^xD Thank you! Haha~

Yosei 04-10-2008 05:07 AM

I was once told by an Australian that they hate the way Americans say god and pronounce Z.

LOL! How do Australians say god? xD Prolly heard it... Just forget. ;D

Hessah 04-10-2008 05:14 AM

erm.... god? XD

Z is a confusing one... the way the asians prononce it (the way i learnt it 1st), the way aussies prononce it, and the way americans says it are all different...

kids especially are even more mixed up coz they learn to say Z one way at school.. then they go home and watch the american sesame streets and they prononce it a different way~ kekeke

Laifun 04-10-2008 05:17 AM

OMG esen ur siggy is so cool... ._."

Americans = Gard?
Aus = Gawd? lol

EDIT: omg hessah already said that.

Hessah 04-10-2008 05:20 AM

American is just... Gawd/god. G-ah-d...?

What's Z in Australia? xD Zeeyuh? That's how the Australian girl at our school kinda said it.

Brown&:@@€|+]|£{''1@:&:jdowmsksbdiejedjmsalalqkeidkaljdh

Hessah 04-10-2008 05:29 AM

i think... aussies prononce it as...

z-ed?

americans prononce it as "zee"?

Honkies prononce it "Ye-Zet" XD

booyah8876 04-10-2008 10:51 AM

I learned to never say, "I think I left my money in my fanny pack."

in Aus.

Hessah will get it ;)

and I also use british spelling for things :3

"Z" is pronounced "Zed".

:3
