Solo hogging in Dungeon?
What are your thoughts on this?
My duo partner and I have been trying to find a room to grind in at the Dungeon of Abyss. Since it's the weekend, we know that it's fairly busy. However, I got pretty annoyed when I see people solo hogging a room. D: They kill so slow when they mob (usually clerics who do this, sometimes fighters) yet they wanna grab the whole room. =.=" We didn't try to take the room or anything... we didn't really wanna pick fights with other people, and they did get there first so it's all fair I guess... but why can't they solo in the hallways where the mobs are instead of hogging a whole room? =[ There are less mobs there, more manageable when they're soloing, and probably a lot safer too. >_> Booo!!!!! |
lmao yeah xD the other day, lil and I went into a room where there was this one mid 50's mage at the beginning of it - we aoed on the other side and he STILL complained about us being there. And I told lil, if we weren't there, he'd become a katamari damacy ball but instead of buildings he'd have stuck in the middle of a karasian ball. >_>

Yeah. We got told off by some fighter once for taking his room. Seriously though, we can kill 7392349234 mobs in the time he kills 1. Well, exaggerated of course but... BOOO!! Still yelled at us and complained how we stole his spot. I don't think we were taking ALL the mobs either. >_> |
yeah, if there's somebody else in our room or we go in their room, we usually share it and keep on the other side and leave them enough mobs. But I mean, when I go solo in there on my cleric, I don't even go in rooms, I go in the 'hallways', where there are a good number of mobs but they're just a bit more spread out but still enough to get 1-3 on you at a time. If your'e soloing, why waste stones and pots on additional mobs anyways @_@

The only time I mob-hug is if I feel threatened of losing all the spawn I NEED (not that I WANT) in order to keep a decent rate of leveling up, but even then like I said, I only would wanna keep 2-3 on me. @_@ not 5+ XD
|
Yeah, there's no need to take up an entire room if you want to solo @-@; And I don't think anybody needs to take on that 1927462 mobs in just one room. Besides, if you're soloing, yeah, why would you want a room anyways? You really don't need to burn all those extra pots and stones @-@; When I solo, most of the time I go to a corridor and drag mobs by myself. But then again, there are some people that are not so nice about sharing rooms o: I was with a party once, and we came to a room on the other side of another party. All of us went "oh, room taken," and prepared to go away when the other party went "someone else is here, kill them" = =; But we ended up going to another room and getting all the mobs there, LOL. edit Oh yeah, this isn't in the battlegrounds, but there was somebody hogging a spot in GC today o: She would tell everyone "go away, my partner and I were here for 2+ hours." If we didn't, she would grab a train and head for that person, saying "alright, I'm training ___ (insert person name)." She couldn't get rid of the train anyways = =; And once when she actually DID get the train off on someone, it was on a 5x fighter that finished them off pretty easily. |
Gosh, people get so greedy and unnecessarily rude when there are exp events.
|
The Abyss was a nice place to solo until recently. I soloed there lots and when I have a room alone when anyone else enters I let them and generally they take one side and I take the other. I have even had some people ask if they can share the room to which I have said “np, plenty for both of usâ€. I have really had little to no issues in the Abyss map . . . until recently.
I had my first real bad experience in the Dungeon last night. I emphasize real bad because Spirit & I encountered a bully the other evening but Omie & Lil came to our rescue so that turned out to be a minor disagreement that was quickly settled by Team Whoopass (I know I thanked Lil & Omie in game chat that night, but thanks again Lil & Omie!). Anyway, it was Spirit, Patches, toolrocket, and myself and we had been working a room for a while when a solo mage slipped in and grabbed up a few mobs. Patches was rounding them up and bringing them to us near the door, so when the solo mage went past us by toolrocket did not realize it was not Patches and singularly hit one of the mobs. Once he realized it was not Patches he apologized immediately but the guy was already on a “Don’t steal mobs†campaign. Spirit tried to explain it was unintentional but he was argumentative. He then proceeded to aoe the mobs Patches had just gathered so of course we all told him to stop stealing the mobs and Spirit asked him politely to please just find a different room as a “common courtesy since we had been there firstâ€. He kept on about us not owning the room and next thing I knew he attacked and killed me. I asked “WTF? WHY DID YOU ATTACK ME?†and his reply was “settled itâ€. WTH?? I truly had said little to nothing to him at all yet he targeted me to kill! He then went on to kill more of our party before I could warp to the portal and run back. Spirit called out asking if any guildies were in the map but none replied. She did however find a mage from BR (thanks Velix!) who was ever so gracious to join our party and help us fight this donkey behind. It took a while since he had all +9 weapons and armor (as he later told toolrocket in chat - toolrocket complemented him on his resilience and they had some private chat for a while) and was spamming CS potions, but eventually between us and a group of mobs he did die and had to warp to the portal. Yeah, it’s getting to where the Abyss map is not much fun anymore. |
Usually, if I'm soloing, parties are normally at the bigger rooms. I go there to check if there's people there, if they are, I just go away. It's going to be pretty hectic with another party around anyways, so I'd rather go out in the corridors @-@; Most of the time, I get a party invite, and I end up staying xD But yeah, people are getting quite competitive =/ Not in the 4x battlegrounds yet, but there's endless stories on the higher leveled ones. I guess it might be because of the population? @-@; More people are in the higher leveled ranges now, and since it takes so long to level they stay at that level region for a while, while more people move in. Less places for all. Really, collisions between parties would still happen less if everyone didn't have too big of an attitude. It's common courtesy that, if a party can handle it, to just leave the room to them. If they're soloing, it doesn't hurt to take some mobs from the room, but it's not nice to take all and leave them with nothing either. |
Yeah, early in the conversation before Spirit asked him to find another room as a common courtesy she had told him we could share the room just don't aoe the mobs Patches had gathered so he proceeded to run gather all but about two and when Spirit asked him to not do that he said something like "you said share and since you gathered mobs so can I". He was a total donkey behind. I know his name and he has been added to my list of those I have absolutely NO respect for.
|
That's probably somebody that no one would have respect for @-@; I really don't understand why people find it so painful or something just to share. You're not going to be there forever, the mobs aren't going to wait till you're done with one mob to spawn, and no one's going to sit in a corner until you're done with a spot. It really just comes down to courtesy, I guess. |
When soloing in the 5x battlegrounds I usually stay at the stairs. I run between the 4 of them for spawns. I can't handle more then 2 at a time anyways, so what's the point of going into a room?
|
The sometimes happens to me... But in most cases I'm one of those fighters... I never tell people that it's my room though. I just waltz over to the opposite side and start killing whatever appears (but no KSing). If they say anything, I dare them to train me (the Soldiers do like 50 damage) or I paste in a link to the thread where SnakeEyes said spot claiming is against the rules. I don't think parties should get preference just because they can kill more faster. Discrimination! But seriously, I'm not going to leave a place with better exp than Uruga or AEW in AoE just because some party thinks they're more deserving.
And I can kill 10 Karasians in the about 3~4 times the time as a smaller AoE party, so it really is just as efficient, sometimes more efficient when killing in those smaller rooms. 3x the exp as when I party. The only problem is that I can never shroom, so I use quite a few stones. 100% of the drops, too. No fighting when I get T3 scroll recipes. |
I hate it. But you know... you don't have to respect their space. You can go fight in the room if you want.
My party once went into a room to kill. We thought it was empty til we saw a lone mage on the other side(it was a big room). He tried telling us he had the room claimed <.< |
Quote:
We dropped it, but she proceeded to take all the mobs in the area which really annoyed us. We asked if we could at least share the place or something, but she went on saying it's against the rules to claim the area (wth?). So what I did was went down to THEIR area and sat my butt there and lured mobs when they spawned and hogged them to myself just to annoy them back. Ohhhhhh yeahhhhhhh~ Quote:

LOL!!! Personally I believe in first in first served.... So if i was at a spot 1st.. and someone else tries to take over a spot.. i'll do all that i can to drive them out... and that's often leaving wat I was hitting and going for the newly spawn mobs
if they still wanna stay after only getting just 1 or two mobs.. every min... then fine... but i only do that when i know i can take on 10 mobs or watever.. keke i dont do anything like that in AEW (yet) |
Yeah, if a party is in a room, yeah, I'll give them their space. But if its a soloer, or a duo, I'ma try to move in too.
|
I seriously don't like it when people half-finish the mob they're killing, and go directly for another mob that spawned in front of my face just so I couldn't kill it. It's basically like taunting me to fight them or something, and since I'm in my low 4x's and I don't like to fight others for near to no reason and waste stones, most of the time I just move. It's not even like I'm taking over the room or anything, most of the time I stay at the entrance and pull 1 mob at a time (or 2 if I get 2). Besides, I hate staying next to a party when I'm soloing, the lag is horrible @-@; But yeah, I really dislike it when people go out of their way to keep mobs to themselves. As soon as something spawns, they run straight for it and leave me with nothing to do. I'm not looking to take over or anything, I'm just soloing = =; |
I hate it when people are so closed-minded that they can't accept that something was unintentional. In our incident toolrocket apologized immediately once he realized that was not Patches that went by with the mobs but that guy was such a donkey behind he wouldn't accept that and proceeded to to aoe the mobs Patches had just gathered and round up all the mobs to solo leaving a party of 4 with 2-3 mobs to gather.
And we were later told that all his gear was +9 weapons and armor and he was spamming the CS potions. So yeah, he is just one of those donkey's behind kinda people who make games less fun for others. |
yeah well.. he just wasted all his CS pots for nothing.. good on him...
|
That guy could've just accepted the apology and conserved all that time and energy o: |
Donkey behinds don't have that much brain power.
|
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOKI HAHAHAHAHAAHAAH xDDDDDDDDDDD LOLOLOLOL >__>; Yeah, kind of true @-@; That's why they do what they do. Sometimes it might be a misunderstanding though xD |
Hmmm seems like all the posters are from Teva but thought I would put my 2 cents worth in on behalf of Apoline.
This weekend we had 2 incidents in the abysmal summit dungeon. I was in a full party and this other player (fighter I think) came in and was soloing. He was in one entrance in the room, we were in the other. We were pulling, doing our thing, when he yelled to us that we were hogging the mobs. He called us by an racially unkind name, saying we were stingy. We all blocked him and kept right on killing. Later in the night we were in the same entrance to the huge room. We were pulling and killing until two of our party members went to Eld to restone and another of our party was afk for a moment, shroomed. Here comes a cleric with a huge train. Needless to say, our mage died from being overwhelmed and our cleric died from being afk. Since I am a fighter I was able to clear the mob. I was thinking that it must be a mistake, maybe the guy got lost or something. A few minutes later we have a full party. Here comes the guy, again. This time he must have pulled the whole huge room plus another room. I mean this train was HUGE. And he was jumping like he was having great fun. My whole party died. We were very unhappy. As we were talking to each other at the entrance here comes the guy. Seems our archer had hunted him down and poisoned him. Then the rest of our group started beating on him. Yeah, juvenile of us but we each lost over 4k exp from the train. He quickly left and was not seen, again. However one of our group whispered to the cleric, asking him why he did that. He said he was using us to get rid of the mages in the room. Huh? He said he couldnt handle all he pulled and saw we were a full group and thought we could help him. I didnt buy that for a minute. We had all reported him at that point and I think he was trying to get out of getting in trouble. We were sharing the room with him. We only had one entrance covered and it was a huge room. I think he just thought training us was great fun and the bigger train the better......grrrrrrrr. |
I think you did what anybody would've done, LMAO. That's one stupid reason to train people, and he deserved to get beat up xD If he really wanted your help, it takes what, two seconds to ask? o: |
Reading all your posts I'm scared to get out of my 40s! So far I've had no problems with my Fighter in the battlefields. The level 30 and 40 ones are pretty darn big... I'd be lucky if I see one person the whole time I'm there.
I've been in the 60 battlefields... I usually stick to the room with the two Clerics and Orcs walking around. I can't handle 3-4 of them at a time if I need to. Later I wanted to see how I'd fair doing a solo AOE and moved to an empty room. Along comes a Fighter who I missed saying hi to me but he kept to his own side and I kept to mine. He could obviously take on more and kill a lot faster too but he was couteous enough to stay in his side. I've yet to meet these sort of people and I hope I never will. Though on a sidenote... I wish people wouldn't hang around at the entrance AOEing each other. Quite a lag fest when entering even if they are in there having fun... o.O |
Here's the thing. The incident that Loki is talking about really pissed me off. We had a party of 4, we were in one of the smaller rooms and we could and were handling all the mobs. When this one lone mage came in, we were willing to share. But, his idea of sharing was HIM rounding up all the mobs and leaving us with just one or two. Now, several things wrong with this. Number 1, yes I know we can not claim a spot as ours, but we were there first, we were taking all the mobs (not to be mean, we were doing this for 30 minutes to an hour before he showed up), and out of common courtesy, he should have moved on. Number 2, we were willing to share, but he decided since with his +9 armour and CS pots that he could also handle all the mobs that he would be the one to share and only share a few. Number 3, when he could not round up enough of the mobs that he wanted, he AOE'd our mobs to pull them off Patches. Number 4, when we said something to him, his solution was to kill our cleric. Number 5, cant be put into words here, but is ends with me calling him a bunch of bleeped out words.
If I am in the Abyss and a whole party has a room, I will go find another room. I do not go in there and kill the current party, simply because it IS a PvP zone. Most people are in there to level not PvP. |
-.-
I've been having problems in Apoline's Abysmal Summit too but I just try to stay out of it and move to another place and hope they get amused by someone else. |
It's sad really that people can't just enjoy the game for what it is. The amount of greed in the game is incredible. I remember going into a room in the 50pvp abyss, and seeing a cleric and mage duoing, and not even coming close to clearing the room.
I was going to solo, and maybe at most keep 5mobs at any given time. I was told I needed to leave, that they would not share. They were there first, and I do subscribe to the idea of first come first serve. But what harm is one little cleric going to do in the course of taking a few mobs. BTW, sometimes I do take a small room when I solo, but I'm very agree-able in most situations. If you want to share the room, just ask. The only reason I'll take a room, is because I like that non-stop grind. Chasing mobs to kill them wastes time. I'd much rather have the mobs come to me. |
On this issue i'm kinda in between if u see a guy holding a whole room u can throw NO SPOT claiming and take over/*cough* share *cough* his room without his consent especially since a mage which i won't mind naming -name removed- always barges in to people's spots tries to take over all the mobs than takes screenies when people ask him/her to leave the spot saying he will report them for spot claiming. (oh and not only this guy/girl takes over one spot but the last conflict i heard of he/she barged in at slyph over 2 parties that were sharing there and started pulling both of their spots)
The mannered way is to leave the room if someone is there whether the person there can or cannot handle the room (after all if he can't handle he will eventually die). EXAMPLE : A friend of mine was able to make over 2million xp per hour soloing, so do u think someone of that caliber cannot make good exp in the abyss by soloing a whole room? |
I don't get why you want to take over another party's room anyways o: Though, there probably isn't enough to go around in the higher level places. Some of the blame has to lie on the lack of places to grind. If everyone wants to party at a place higher leveled than them to get good exp, but the higher leveled people have to grind there too, there's bound to be collisions. |

My input is, if you or your party were there first...it's yours or your parties for the time being. period. point blank.
|
not if someone (or some party) comes in and kills ur party to "take over the room"
you can respect others, and leave the room when another party is there.. but there's no rules that says just because your party is there 1st, another party cant come in and grind in the same room... (ie. cant expect the same "respect" from other people) |
Quote:
Ps. You cannot own a room in BG. |
Quote:
When i solo in Bg i stay in the halls since well I dont want to disturb the people in the rooms(i.e. getting in the way, taking agrro, getting hit by them, messing them up when they click tab and they attack me) |
About not owning a room... It's true that technically, it's not yours to claim. But in my opinion, it's really rude to pk just to get someone else's room. People did that to my party a couple times in the level 50 Abyss and it's just stupid...
|
Once people attain a top quality room (i.e. F8 in Dungeon of the Abyss), those who once claimed that you cannot "own" a room suddenly reverse that and claim that you can, especially when they start making 1.5-2 million experience an hour. Happened all the time way back; I'd imagine it still happens now.
Moral of the story? "You can claim a room," says the devil's advocate. |
I find the Battlegrounds like this:
Competetive Grinding. That is some über exp in there. If someone else wants it, they can fight me and my pt for it. My pt usually kills them. I don't claim a room, but I'm going HC AoE grinding there to get exp to lvl up now, and I don't want someone coming in to steal exp that I could be using. As for clerics doing that... that's the main thing... 6x BGs, and they run into the biggest room they can find, and train something like the AoE lvl train I use... My pt usually agrees, and we'll just go kill the cleric (if he's not using T3 scrolls) but if he is, we'll let him know that he's slowing down the spawn for his own greedy nature of soloing 4615984354 mobs when he can't AoE... then we'll kill him if he does nothing. They gave such good rewards, and such good exp for a reason... if you want it, you've gotta fight for it. |
