Event Calendar

Maybe I'm slow (but hopefully it's just that this is still relatively new) but I discovered a handy-dandy event calendar on the official forums.

On the main forum page scroll all the way to the bottom - here is a list of events for the next 7 days.

Now, look to the left - that nifty calendar page - that opens up a month-at-a-glance calendar page . . .

. . . with events listed - and they have a pop-up with details when you mouse-over:

Click the event and it opens to a specific event post with a reminder option in the top right corner:

And several reminder intervals offered:

I'm not sure yet what the reminder is when it arrives but I did set a couple and will post an image or whatever after I get one.

oh waoh.. i'm pretty sure its a new thing... very nice discovery!

Spirit 03-12-2008 11:08 PM

Yeah, I noticed it today for the first time, so I'm pretty sure it is relatively new. Way to go Loki and thanks for the screenies of all that it does.

Cool.

I might use this if it isn't too much hassle opening it every once in a while.

Maybe you can book mark it so it only requires one click?

Haven't looked at it yet but nice find Loki!

Hessah 03-13-2008 12:12 AM

its really good for me coz i can never make it to any of the events on the weekdays, so i can just take a glance to see if there's any Teva events on Fridays (so its my saturday) and know instantly that i dont hv any events coming up in the next month -.-

Wow cool never knew that, might come in handy

Yosei 03-16-2008 02:41 AM

I think I'ma sticky this. This is helpful ^^ But I'll see what the other mods think.

Enraya 03-16-2008 03:28 AM

Oh wow!
Thanks for finding it Loki! =DDD

LollyPop 03-16-2008 04:05 PM

Coolies. Well that could come in handy

Spirit 03-16-2008 05:43 PM

Yos - move to the guide section and post a link in the stickied guide thread.

Yosei 03-16-2008 05:57 PM

Yeah, thats what I was thinking... will do!

Ulrike 03-16-2008 08:08 PM

oh wow. This is the most intricate calendar system I've seen for a MMORPG o.o

Lady-Loki 03-16-2008 08:29 PM

Just a status update - I set reminders for most all of the Teva St. Patty's events and have yet to get a reminder so that feature may not yet be activated. No pop-up, no PM, no email.

However, I will continue to use that feature and hopefully will one day be surprised when a reminder pops up for me.

I think i've just worked something out...

The dates and times of each event on the calender has been adjusted to the timezone that you've set for the forum.

E.g. the Spring Break Dance Party event, is on 4th April 2008 PDT, which means its gonna be 5th April 2008 for me in Sydney.

Look at my calender:

When I click into it... it even converts the time for me...

So... that might be why Yosei missed the GM War event a little while ago?! (though i thought Yosei was in the same timezone... but this could be the answer....)

EDIT: actually.. not all events have that message in the 2nd picture... =/

Spirit 04-04-2008 03:31 AM

Cool if they set it up to match the timezone you have set in your options!!

Lady-Loki 04-04-2008 03:32 AM

Here is what shows on mine:

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...emps/event.jpg

Good that it shows based on what timezone you set in your user option.

EDIT to add: But I always thought they did these based on their timezone so i always adjust to find mine.

I wonder if this is new and we no longer need to adjust or we WILL miss events.

Hessah 04-04-2008 03:33 AM

you must be in the same timezone as outspark?

you dont hv that extra line that says "this event is posted for GMT-7 blah blah blah. It may appear on a different date on your calendar"

Nope, not in the same timezone - 2 hours ahead of them. I wondered about that also.

SKiNG 04-04-2008 06:32 AM

Glad you all found the calendar. We didn't announce it because we're still testing it out ourselves and trying to make it look "pretty". Let me know if you have suggestions or issues with it.

Thanks

Yosei 04-04-2008 06:34 AM

Its useful. Can plan ahead!

Zwivix 04-04-2008 03:01 PM

Hmm that is very useful ^^

What would make it even better was if it actually messaged you in-game with a notice a couple hours in advanced.

Yepyep. Or a pop-up reminder, anything actually. I set several reminder requests initially & received no reminder so I need to test it to see if it works now. I will set one for todays Spring Break Dance Party.

Zwivix 04-04-2008 03:29 PM

Kk, cool. But I would have to say that an In-game personal announcement would be better. Since some peoeple might only have the basic requirements to run the game. So having Fiesta and the Forums up might strain their computer more than is needed.

Nice Find! :D
