I spent all day on this

My midterm assignment, due tomorrow morning.

Here's the model:

Here's the charcoal rendition:

Sorry, it came out kind of blurry, I was too lazy to retake the picture.

Constructive criticism please, I know I'm not done, just stumped.

Ralath 03-12-2008 05:27 AM

I'm... confused.

Is this an art project?

iDerrick 03-12-2008 05:30 AM

Um, you can call it that I suppose.

Ralath 03-12-2008 05:31 AM

What are you supposed to do with it? Just for show or... use it in your animation stuff like... make it dance or something?

iDerrick 03-12-2008 05:43 AM

>_> lol.

not EVERYTHING I do has to be animated D:

Rightclaw 03-12-2008 05:45 AM

Oh man, LOL. When I saw the first pic, I thought it was supposed to be a science project.

Looks good though. 0:

Hessah 03-12-2008 05:50 AM

OHhh is that why u said u've been breathing charcoal and needing fresh air? haha

that looks good! look so 3Dish!

<--- cant draws and admires everyone who can!

iDerrick 03-12-2008 05:50 AM

LOL, what about it makes it look like a science project? xD

Loveless 03-12-2008 05:51 AM

Too blurry to tell, lol. Looks good to me!

If you want me to be picky, I'd say it doesn't look 'flowy' enough like the model...?

Ugh, you're right. The center line isnt curved enough, and now I'm too lazy to fix it ;-;. 7 hours straight and my hands/back hurts. Maybe I'll wake up early tomorrow and fix that.

Hyper 03-12-2008 05:56 AM

It's not finished...?

Lol, DerrDerr, you sound like one of those people who is never satisfied with their drawings. o;

The only thing I see is that the left corner of the drawn cloth doesn't have the little fray/stitching, or whatever you call it.

Based on shadowing, I don't see anything wrong... <_>

Blaaaaaaaah 03-12-2008 06:33 AM

You always say that you're drawings are bad and it gives me the impression that it IS bad, but it is not!!! You've been misleading!!!

I think it looks good.

I have a suggestion, not so much CC though (because I'm not good with charcoals myself). How about some more high lights on the shirt? Like these bits:

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8...rrshirtdy2.jpg

You can try and "rub" out some bits to high light it so the high lighted bits are actually white, and not shaded. I think that will help with the lighting intensity. But then again, the photo is kind of blurry so maybe you've already made them white but I just did not see them! xDD

iDerrick 03-12-2008 07:50 AM

Thanks, and fixed. Too lazy to retake the photo and upload it here though. xD

Blaaaaaaaah 03-12-2008 08:52 AM

BOO! Buh buh... I wanna seeeeeee!

Upload it when you bother! Dx

Lady-Loki 03-12-2008 11:25 AM

I think it looks good.

The only thing I would change is the shadow of the top right fold - the shadow seems to imply the lighting is more to the left but further down the image it appears that the light is more from the top left.

But that's just my opinion. It may actually be the right and I have no clue.

Belaslav 03-12-2008 04:17 PM

Lol nice shadows assignment. I nearly failed mine when I tried to draw that, and ended up with a 65 final mark, lowest in my history. *envies*

Random fact: Did you know that if you take some coal dust, blow it around the room and then light a match, something fun is going to happen?

O-mie 03-12-2008 05:34 PM

lmao, charcoal. X_X I hated our charcoal projects. I'd come home from college looking like I was just in battle at 'nam or something, rofl.

Ralath 03-12-2008 11:47 PM

Omggg...

<--me so dumb... TT.TT

>.<

Didn't realize the second one was a drawing. Thought you had just stuck your first piece of cloth into the fireplace or something...

A_Forever 03-12-2008 11:51 PM

I don't get it.

booyah8876 03-13-2008 02:38 AM

I would say the only thing I would change is like Loveless said...

the drawing seems so... perfect lined. The model is curved.

Other than that... I had to look 2 times to see the difference...

the 2nd time I looked, I noticed the line thing.
