Repetitive Chiming sounds when playing fiesta on laptop

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? somehow when i play fiesta on my laptop (or almost any other online game), there is a repetitive chiming sound, i think its the same sound made by windows computers whenever an error occurs.

what background programms are u running. a Firewall for example?

And how is interval?

it might just be people on your bl/guild logging on/off. I too play on my laptop and even with all the sound settings turned off ingame, the above action still makes a sound

The sound is not the sound of bl/guild logging on/off.. i think its the sound that should be played when there is a pop-up message indicating an error or something like that, and also occurs when i try to play other games... later i'll run fiesta on my laptop and record the sound...

Reinstall? O.o

MaxOff 03-01-2008 01:51 AM

there is no point in recording the sound.
And not every bug can be solved with reinstalling.

If i understand u right, it should an application running, in the background, that displays an popup that comes along with an notification sound.

If for example the sound appears everytime u change the map, it could the firewall. But it might something else too. Your IM perhaps?

Actually what i mean is that the sound is like that of an application running in the background, that displays an popup that comes along with an notification sound, but there is no popup whatsoever. It starts occuring as soon as i run almost any online game, and is quite frequent... and somehow it only affects my laptop and not my computer. even closing my im does not work...

edit: its the same sound u hear when u try to click "post quick reply" without clicking on one of the quick reply icons in the posts above to activate quick reply

sounds like a firewall, do u have a firewall installed? if thats the case deactivate it and look if the sounds still plays.

same problem as yours. i also using laptop. maybe it is in the default setting of the laptop sounds. :)

NotMyWay 03-02-2008 09:32 AM

I had windows firewall and symantec antivirus and turned them both off, but the sounds are still there...

akio950 03-02-2008 05:21 PM

Maybe it could be like a virus or cookie?

girl_cleric 03-02-2008 05:40 PM

?

are you running some other program while playing? that could be it. or maybe ur comp can't handle something and is trying to tell u

akio950 03-02-2008 06:03 PM

Try playing on a desktop.. maybe your laptop can't handle it..

I just realised a way to fix this problem... somewhat unconventional but works anyway.

Go to control panel and click "sounds, speech, and audio devices". under the "sounds" tab, select "exclaimation". (located under the "program events", u may need to scroll down). next, change the sound to "(none)". U may want to save the scheme as a custom scheme, so that u can change the schemes easily when needed.
