That Quest

This is about the fire spirit quest.

I think this quest is going to do a lot of bad for the community. You can go from level 1 to 39 in one go. The zone is packed with people from level 1 to 79, trying to get that quest done, get powerlevels, grind, etc. But my main concern is the quest. When it comes to MMOs, I think its about quality, not quantity. What if there is someone whose main is level 19, hasn't really experienced much, they make it to Uruga, get the quest, and somehow manage to find help with the quest. Bam.. they're level 40+, a rank in level where you really need to know your job and place in the game or else you will be a reject to the games society.

Also, there's a financial aspect to it. A lot of people don't have the money to afford all of the skills, and basic things they will need to be caught up and to do their job efficiently.

Sure there are some people who can afford it, and do get the basic gist of their new high leveled character. But either way, there is going to be a lot of inexperienced players, like fighters, or clerics, two classes that really need experience to be successful.

All I can say is wow x.x

Pritcher 02-28-2008 01:05 AM

Whoa, I don't know anything about it, but that sounds pretty messed up to me too. Is there no minimum level limit on the quest? That's strange, especially if it gives that much experience.

*shrug*

This will destroy the community. Say goodbye to KQ's.

All those days of grinding and questing I did, pointless.

Yosei 02-28-2008 01:27 AM

Yeah. I worked my butt off to get to 40, now someone can get there by leeching off of other players who worked their butts off. Then they will go and join robo for the first time.

Ivramire 02-28-2008 01:30 AM

Only thing that can probably fix this is a global rollback =/

Then again , I'm not sure if they can fine-tune it so that you only lose xp gained from the quests and the mobs there. They would have to reset lvls too.

Yosei 02-28-2008 01:33 AM

I hope they put some kind of restriction.

Zodiac 02-28-2008 01:34 AM

Right now its setup up if you have high level friends then you can be level up almost instantly =O but also people who can offer money or something can just as easly get it done >=O , Kinda dumb -Even though I admit I would do that quest xD-

the quests are bugged... i dont think we're suppose to get that quest until level 70+, but it didnt matter before coz BR wasnt opened... all of a sudden BR opens and ppl can actually DO the quest so yeah its all messed up!

selfishly speaking i dont want them to close the map yet coz i hvnt done the quest! XD (but i only get 1 lvl from it)... but they should put a level lock on it.. like lvl 40+ so at maxe ppl get 3-4 levels rather than 40 levels from it...

IMO, they really should leave it open and make the BR mobs harder... (i heard taht lvl 50s can tank it, so obvious they're not hard enough!) coz with this quest suddenly we hv LOTS of lvl 40+ everyone will be grinding in uruga/AEW/FoS/BR.... if they close BR up, the already overcrowded high level maps will be EXTRA overcrowded... so i think they need to keep BR open to for the lvl 60 or level 70+

Phibrizzo 02-28-2008 01:41 AM

it sucks. all my friends did it and I'm stuck at 30s and I won't even be able to play next week.

I quit.

Yosei 02-28-2008 01:43 AM

Don't quit over one unfair quest <.<

QFT x 10000. I don't even think a noob cleric is as bad as a noob fighter. I would never take on a mob that would kill me too fast with a cleric. A fighter, on the hand... just ICK ICK ICK!!! I failed so many GGK raids and KQs because fighters don't know WHAT THE HECK THEY ARE DOING!!! >:[

Also agree with this. My guild master was talking about this today and while I definitely think that quest should be erased, I dun want a global rollback... -.-;;

And I don't think there will be a lvl restriction placed on the gate, anytime soon. But Outspark can prove me wrong.

Hessah 02-28-2008 01:46 AM

a roll back just for the quest.. but wat if ppl has spent their money buying new skills? wooo its gonna be hell complicated!!

and yeah.. agree with Ralath's last line LOL!

I didn't really quit, but that's exactly what I want to do right now. I mean, I'm here striving to get to 40 before my vacations are over and 90% of the server just gets a magic levelup button quest? I don't mind not getting it at all, just don't give it to everyone else around me lol.

I'm just hoping an enlightened soul will help me do the quest before I go to the beach.
and I'm not going to beg it at Uruga either, not this kind of person.

Yosei 02-28-2008 01:51 AM

The skills would probably still be there, but you just can't use them.

Ivramire 02-28-2008 01:52 AM

I can get on now.

AngellicDiety 02-28-2008 02:01 AM

Global rollback would be ill-advised. Too many things can go wrong - data corruption being the #1 danger.

As for now its simply control the damage. Level lock the gates.

As for Burning Rock Monsters being too easy, its not exactly true.

Burning rock monsters were designed for stock level 80 weaponary. Having [+9] level 50+ weapons gives the overall strength of a level 90 weapon if not stronger. So people weilding [+9] level 50 weapons or higher, need to keep this in mind when judging the overall difficulty of a monster.

The monsters clearly have level 80 stats as their dexterity makes them difficult to hit.

As for defense and HP, perhaps it is a bit low considering its a level 80 monster, but its not like it needs a big tune up.

If you dont believe me, buy stock level 50, 60, or 70 weapons. Tell me how effectively you kill monsters in burning rock without the double damage bonus from the enhancements. I've even tried it, a [+9] level 70 axe and a regular level 70 axe.

The +9 makes a burning rock monster a piece of cake, no stones used. The plain axe on the other hand made be use a HP stone per fire spirit. Let me tell you, 300c+ HP stones are not things you want to use one-a-monster.

You will doubtlessly have those who cannot perform well in their respective classes. That is a factor that will always be prevalent. This will only make it much more noticeable, if anything. Thus, it's nothing to be worry about...yes, you'll have level 40s that are clueless as to what they're doing, but they'll have fun leveling up once they are faced with the problem of grinding. All you can do, I guess, is to pray that they learn before they reach level 50.

Yosei 02-28-2008 02:07 AM

Yeah.. thats another thing thats fortunate. If someone was level 20(never been higher) and they level to 40, and then they try to grind at 40... they will most likely find it boring ;p
