Recently, an exploit has been found in the game chat. This is being used to disconnect people within a certain area.

Fortunately and unfortunately the people who commit these acts do so under a freshly levelled account. Meaning they do not have the ability to shout - otherwise we would be toast.

If you are within the viscinity of the chat then you will be disconnected.

Uruga, Elderine and the Ancient Elvin Woods have confirmed "exploiters" crashing everyones clients at the moment.

Try and steer clear of these maps as much as possible for the time being.

I don't think they will ignore this ^^;; They could lose a lot of members over this.

So, if you walk near one of these people just talking, you get disconnected? How does that work? Thats a pretty bad bug.

It is a hack and they do have control over that. I think they will correct this if they possibly can.

When the hell did it happen? And how?

Aren't there really only bugs after patching, but they patched a while ago and it was fine...

@Spirit: This game is pretty much unhackable. o: Outspark are the only ones who can change the game. Except for what Ghostly did... Dunno how that works.

I guess this was just recently found then.

Yeah, during the past week a few people have had this problem. There's a couple threads on it on the main forums,

I've heard that, if you block the individual, you're safe. The last time I was in Uruga when this happened, a person's rapid logging-in caused him to get the "disconnected from server" message so he didn't just poof back to the launcher. He found the guy who was doing it and screenshotted him. I dunno if it would help any, but if you can get a screenshot of the person doing it, I'd send it to a GM. If you can manage sending a whisper to the guy, you can right click his name and block him, and then you'll be fine so I've been told.

Has it only been found in Teva or has it been used on all servers?

What good does it do to crash people's clients on freshly made accounts? You'd kick that person off then log into your main to grind in an empty map? o_O But they'd come back later on anyways...

It seems to be a chat exploit, so anyone who hears their speech is affected.

Even when your in guild chat your still recieving chat dialogue for your other chat tabs.

If you block the culprit before he sends you a message than you will be fine.

As before mentioned anyone who "recieves" the dialogue from these individual(s) will have their clients crashed.

Luckily, they arent sending their messages through the shout system as they are using level 1 characters. If they could, you would never be able to move out of a town map.

Since they cant shout it, they can only affect people surrounding them.

Whoa, that's a pretty nasty bug there. I'm sure this is one thing that they'll take seriously and address as soon as possible since this is a bit more than just a little annoying. People count on being able to sit in towns and set up their shops while they're away and this could pretty much destroy the whole market system if all a person has to do is move within "hearing" distance and disconnect everyone's shops.

Does anyone else remember something similar to this a long time ago? I seem to vaguely remember some kind of exploitable disconnect bug like this except I think it had to do with certain emotes. Or am I thinking of some other game?

I thought it was strange when all my friends on my BL who were in Eld vanished simultaneously for a good 30 minutes o.O Luckily I haven't been struck by this glitch yet (-_-)

So the people doing this are just random jerks or those gold farmers? Getting annoyed that they can no longer advertise so they resort to kicking people off game... o.O

And arashi, are you implying that you moved BK files to your Fiesta since you're able to take screenshots? (That might explain the Magic Burst cooldown thing a while back... since the cooldown in BK is much shorter)

the toolbars and everything look like theyre from Fiesta and people are shouting in English, so Fiesta?

I wouldn't say that here. There is a GM that lurks here. Infact, I'm going to edit your post, so no one tries anything. Unless you feel like editing your post so that it doesn't tell what they're doing.

Ah... is that why there are no shops in elderine... including myself that got d/c 10 mins after setting up a shop....

what if you blocked all chat? I know you can block whispers and shout I think, so can you block them all so the hacker can't get to you?

You can try, but I think it has something to do with the log, either way, it records what everyone is saying.

So.. when we get d/c it was a client crashed thing.... so there's no "Disconnected from Server" msg?

Probably buffer overrun of some sort.

Oh wow, thank goodness that i havent logged on today. Since im in Elderine.

But does that mean that they get D/c ed when they say the message?

Not sure. Possibly not, since people have tried logging back in instantly and still get DC'd.

Ok... what happened to me...

I was walking from CP up to Uruga to restone, and as soon as I walked in range of someone spamming a gold site, my client shut down. No warning, no nothing. Boom window is now closed.

I logged back in, and all the shops were gone, and everything seemed fine... for like 2 seconds... then BOOM... happens again.

The third time I logged in, I starting seeing that the only person staying on the frickin' map was the gold spammer. I blocked him, and then I was perfectly fine.

But what i dont understand. Why would the gold spammers do that>?!

I was in Rumen on my noobie mage when it happened again today, so I went to Elderine on my cleric... same was happening there AND in Uruga. So I started shouting for everyone to re-connect as fast as possible, look for the only noob standing near them each time, screenshot them, and report that info to the GM. The dc'ing stopped. 0.o Coincidence or if I scared em I'm not sure. I did catch who I thought was the Elderine hacker. After I stayed close to her she ran, I chased her, and she poofed. The dc'ing stopped and I never saw her again. Too bad I couldn't get a screenshot of her before I dc'd. I don't even remember the exact spelling of her name. :(

Oh by the way... shutting off normal chat didn't work for me. Someone did suggest going into character hide mode, which should work for getting out of town since you can't receive normal chat... doesn't work for hacker hunting though. If someone could confirm or test out character hide mode next time that'd be great.
