Guide: Basic Manners when asking for buffs

Introduction

This is a guide to teach basic manners. While most people have manners, some players do not. Manners are important when playing online RPGs like Fiesta Online.

Understanding buffs

While it is true that clerics have the ability to buff another player and increase his or her abilities, not all clerics have such skills. Also, some mid-level clerics may have "immune", but not "endure". Clerics only have the ability to buffs others, but they are under no obligation whatsoever to buff another player. How they use this ability is at their own discretion.

Asking for buffs

While it is acceptable to ask for buffs from another player, one should observe proper manners when doing so. Do not be rude or demanding. Also, some useful words you may want to remember are "please" and "thanks"/"thank you". Another thing to note is that some players may be away, and may not respond. If that is the case, there is no need to flood the player's whispers. Also, if a cleric is capable of using immune, but not endure, it would still be polite to thank the cleric instead of just walking away and uttering rude comments (which the cleric would be able to read)

Note that some clerics will not respond to "plsss", "pliz", sentences typed in capital letters, or exclaimation marks. Also, if you have been rude to certain people, they may "blacklist" you, i.e. you will never recieve their buffs again.

Some clerics would also appreciate it if you mention their name.

This guide may only be used on http://www.fiestafan.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5073 and http://fiesta.gamengame.com/communit...&key=&keyword= . Do not copy this guide without permission. Remember: Manners

Meh...the only people that really beg/demand for a buff are the people who came here from miniclip ads or runescape. Nice guide btw :D

a.L 02-04-2008 11:32 AM

It's a shame that some people don't know any common courtesy. =/

Lady-Loki 02-04-2008 12:25 PM

Good guide. Did you post similar on the officials? There are more people over there and I think for the most part FF ppl are a little more courteous, if not to the entire population of Isya then at least to other FF members.

NotMyWay 02-04-2008 01:02 PM

I posted on the official forum of gamengame but not outspark...

Hessah 02-04-2008 10:11 PM

Also, addressing the request directly at the cleric by mentioning their name will also be a good idea when asking for buff....

i tend to buff ppl that goes "Hessah can you buff me please?"

Nice. they just wouldnt understand the sufistication it takes to ask for a buff.

It's too long of a ritual for them to pay attention.

Good job btw.

FlyingSnow 02-05-2008 12:13 AM

or you can do this if you know them...

TRIUMPY! BUFF MEHHHHHHHHHHHHH!...
then you go all rambo!...
then triumpy will probally bash me with his hammer cause hes way to high lvl'd for me and my stick attack! :D

BUFFF MEEHHHHHH!.
oh guys on a side note can mages despell the buffs? cause i'd be funny running around debuffing all the ppl :p

Hessah 02-05-2008 12:14 AM

No, i doubt u can remove a buff with dispel. Dispel can only remove debuffs, not buffs.... =D

Spirit 02-05-2008 12:31 AM

There is a skill where mages can remove the last buff that was put on you. However, I think that it can only be used in PvP and Gws.

NotMyWay 02-05-2008 12:32 AM

So i should post this on outspark? although i dont play there...

btw, while dispel cannot remove buffs, if u war them u might be able to use purge to remove their buffs... the cooldown is quite long though (2 mins)

edit: and while i understand most people on FF forums dont need to know this, i thought i might as well copy and paste this from gng forums.... besides, there are a few inactive people here who lack manners, and maybe some people who read guides but never sign up...

copy and paste what? and does GnG own Outspark or Fiesta...im confused?

NotMyWay 02-05-2008 12:46 AM

North America and some other country (i think Europe?) have different servers, North America's company is known as Outspark, the other company that also hosts Fiesta is Gamengame. Both servers are seperate, and run by 2different companies. I'm playing the less known one run by gamengame, so i only posted on their forums... and after i posted there i thought i should copy what i wrote and repost it here as well...

FlyingSnow 02-05-2008 12:48 AM

ok im confused way confused now...so theres the Outspark Fiesta, Bright Kingdom, Shine Online, AND a gamengame Fiesta??? LINK PLZ! lol just curious, so they doing the same stuff's or operating differently

ok nvm the link i found it...they have a really crappy site IMO but now its starting to make sense!

NotMyWay 02-05-2008 12:52 AM

http://fiesta.gamengame.com/

havent seen any botters there yet, however, cash shop has yet to be released, and the level cap is still at lv 59. Also, there are fewer people playing, (it seems that i usually see the same people everywhere i go). Also, it may be harder to make money by production skills, unless maybe u afk overnight?

iDerrick 02-05-2008 04:40 AM

Buffs are a privelege, not a right.

I knew it.

iDerrick 02-05-2008 04:45 AM

Learned well, you too have.

Hessah 02-05-2008 04:49 AM

Too funny. ^^

Yes, I respect clerics and do not ask for buffs, unless it is Loki. Then this is how I go about asking her for a buff.

Loki!!!!! Buff Plz!!!!!!!111!!!11!1!!1!1!11!11!!!!!!!

And she give me one to shut me up. :D

Hessah 02-05-2008 10:48 PM

i've started asking for buff on my mule LOL!! coz i wanna be the tank in KQs LOL

i'm such a noob.. but i'm a nice and polite noob....:p

booyah8876 02-21-2008 04:48 AM

This is the worst situation I've ever seen:

Guy: *Walks up to me*
Guy: "Buff"
Me: *does nothing*
Guy: "Buff me"
Me: "Nö. You didn't even ask."
Guy: "F- you a-"

Oo.

-.-"

Hessah 02-21-2008 05:25 AM

lately i've been feeling generous and randomly buff ppl...

but i get annoyed when they say "buff plz" AFTER i buffed them..

its like.. hey dude.. LOOK! u should be saying THANK YOU not BUFF PLZ

no i dont say that... i just ignore them... and see if they can work it out for themselves...

(have i said this already? i felt like i hv.. not sure where.... oh well)

Ivramire 02-21-2008 05:32 AM

something like this was already posted on the officials btw

http://outspark.com/forums/showthrea...t=buff+manners

NotMyWay 02-21-2008 10:48 AM

The worst situation I have ever seen is i afk for 2 days to get "Silent" title, and after about one day i check my PMs, there was this person who whispered me to say "buff me max hp" twice followed by "help me". At that time... I was about level 20+. (or is it worse to be stalked from town all the way to ur training point for a heal?) Another funny one was someone demanding my mage for a heal.

But I didnt post this on outspark forums or read that before, and am not related to the thread starter... (in fact i hardly read outspark forums unless its from a link posted on ff forums...)

Ivramire 02-21-2008 03:17 PM

I'm not implying you did, just posted that in case you were going to post this there.

Hessah 02-21-2008 09:13 PM

Wow that girl gets some bad insults! i dont think i've ever gotten the "close ur shop and buff me" thing... or "do ur job or make a fighter"

usually when i shroom no one knows wat class i am so i'm safe from whispers....

Blaaaaaaaah 02-21-2008 09:58 PM

Having Wizmage title is win. Unequip hammer + shield = WIZMAGE TRANSFORMATION!

Nobody asks me for buffs when I do that and stand around Uruga.

Hessah 02-21-2008 10:05 PM

LOL!! i think u should put the archer title on instead... Spirit still gets asked for buff as a MAGE...

Blaaaaaaaah 02-21-2008 10:41 PM

Too bad I don't have the title.

You can tell the class of someone when you click them by their background color.

Not saying everyone knows which is which but, just sayin.

Well that's alright, people who goes "buff plz" aren't the type to do that. xD

I once had someone coming up to me and said "buff plz". But, I was almost done setting up my shop, so I didn't buff her. She proceeded to stand there to watch me stand on the spot, and after a pause, she's said, "believe me, I'm not a noob". After more pause, she said, "I don't go asking around for buffs".

Hm, what did she just do then? "buff plz?"

Not that it was rude or anything, just thought it was weird. @.@" But I closed my shop and buffed her afterwards. I don't like it when people stand there watching me. =[[

Hessah 02-21-2008 11:03 PM

O_o yeah that is weird... i thought that was pretty rude! I'm more than happy to buff newbs (in fact i prefer to buff them than higher lvls coz u see a massive dent in their HP bar, like u really make a difference!)

but like.. i dont buff ppl base on their levels... i base it on how polite they are... to me all they really hv to do is say my name "Hessah buff plz" will do me...

but yeah... back to wat blah was saying... ppl standing there watching u... =/ i just ignore them... i LOVE pretending to be afk.... so they'll never get me closing my shop for them.. i'll just stand there and watch them back...

oOAnubisOo 03-27-2008 01:45 PM

Lately I have found whenever I go out, I get buffed by someone without asking. Maybe it's because I don't ever ask. It's a very kind thing to do especially if you know someone is working hard to lvl, and I'm most grateful for it. Half the time I don't even notice though until I get to my destination! lol, makes me feel a little guilty for not thanking the person who did it.

So for all the times someone has given me an surprise buff. " /s TY! :) "

Vasu 03-27-2008 02:48 PM

I wish I could buff.....

Ulrike 03-27-2008 04:35 PM

recently I've been soloing in Uruga, and people walking by always random buff me <3
