A little math for you

f(x) is a function where a= number of people active on forum and b= my boredom level. These two variables are inversely proportional.( i.e As one goes up the other goes down)

f(x)= (a-b) where f(x)= my happiness

if a=1 and b=1769 then f(x)= -1768
people need to post. I'M SO BORED

ok

secbro20 01-30-2008 12:59 PM

f(x)= 3x^2+4

f'(x)=(3(x+h)^2+4-3x^2-4)/(h)

f'(x)=(3x^2+3h^2+6hx+4-3x^2-4)/(h)

f'(x)=(3h^2+6hx)/h

f'(x)=3h+6x

f'(x)=3(0)+6x

f'(x)=6x

NotMyWay 01-30-2008 01:07 PM

wouldnt an inversely proportional function be something like ab=k?

sure but I don't care.

I just did some calculus because calculus rules!

Noes!!! No more maths!!!!!!! My head hurts!!!! :eek:

secbro20 01-30-2008 02:27 PM

i have calculus next BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

we just started Integration also called Anti Derivatives. <3 calculus

f(x)= 3x^2+4

f'(x)=(3(x+h)^2+4-3x^2-4)/(h)

f'(x)=(3x^2+3h^2+6hx+4-3x^2-4)/(h)

f'(x)=(3h^2+6hx)/h

f'(x)=3h+6x

f'(x)=3(0)+6x

f'(x)=6x

Same problem just posting it again because it rules all. Dervative of 3x^2+4 is 6x

Spirit 01-30-2008 02:34 PM

go away. and come back to fiesta. me misses you!!

NotMyWay 01-30-2008 02:55 PM

#include <stdio.h>
void main()
{
printf("o.O");
}

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLZZZZZZZZZZZ

I = math nerd xD

I remember doing this stuff!! Lol, that was like.. 10th grade I think. They made me take it over for a semester when I didn't fail it D:

Hessah 01-30-2008 09:47 PM

those are things i've left in the past....

Blaaaaaaaah 01-30-2008 10:08 PM

Calculus was easiest back in high school (well, certain caculus topics.. not all were easy).

But I forgot everything now. It's permanently erased from my life.

D:

Or... we could just cut that whole equation down by 1239120893 steps:

f(x)=3x^2+4
f'(x)=3x*2^(2-1)+4*0^-1
f'(x)=6x

oh yeah that's how i use to do it...

that h was throwing me off~

Ralath 01-31-2008 12:36 AM

Yah... I think that might have been the definition of a derivative? It's been a year. Calculus only stays in your brain for a week.

alexbre 01-31-2008 12:43 AM

wait, whats the question...

Belaslav 01-31-2008 01:19 AM

This one makes me think of Quagmire from Family Guy.

8 + =^4 + >

Ignore the plus sign and spaces, and put ==== instead of =^4. What do you get?

Don't post the answer.
