I dont think u exactly "hit" bullets in the back... u put them in a rifle or pistol or gun then pull the trigger...

The answer was ninja death star. Now before you go "WTF", yes, ninja stars were sometimes poisoned, and the "confusing" part is that when thrown, they tend to fly in a spiral. As for "miss" part, yeah, you could evade it, but when you have 5 thrown at you at the same time... Well ya, you have to be Neo from Matrix to get out of that one. :P
