Fraps

Since I suck at siggies, I thought I would give movies a try. Keeping in mind that I suck at anything like this, so I am only trying out fraps trial version first, can anyone give me any pointers on the best way to make movies.
Help me.

And that's okay about the fraps, I have been reading up on it, and OMG, it may perplex me as bad as them siggy thingys, lol.

So the Fraps is a pay account thing? I know that people make movies using Fraps, maybe I should look into it? ô.Ô

And I know it was for the best... wtf is Draein's problem?

Spirit 01-25-2008 08:11 PM

From what i understand there is a trial version that you can download. however, the trial version is limited on what it can actually do, plus you have their little logo in your videos. But, I looked at the price of the actual version and it is only $37.00(US). So, if I can figure out the trial version and actually understand the whole concept, I would consider buying the full version.

booyah8876 01-25-2008 08:18 PM

I've been looking for like the past 5 mins... and I honestly can't see why they charge almost $40 for one of these... I mean... I guess it's time to download a Keygen, and get an account... I could see like $10-20 for an account max... but almost $40 is rediculous >.>;

Spirit 01-25-2008 08:36 PM

Is there something else that is similiar to fraps that might be better?

iDerrick 01-25-2008 08:53 PM

bla~hs and I use fraps. LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALAALAL ALA. Once you get it, bla~ahs and I can help you and give you pointers :P

Nice Derrick!

Well glad you support your fellow "people who dont pay for anything online and always try to get it free" (We need to think of a shorter title).

But I might try movie making it looks like fun.

Spirit 01-25-2008 09:11 PM

Thanks Derrick. I was gonna download it when I get home today and try to play with it this weekend.

Yosei 01-25-2008 10:01 PM

I really dislike Fraps. The video files are HUGE. 200MB for a 10 second video <.<

iDerrick 01-25-2008 10:17 PM

You might have set it to 60fps, the more fps, the bigger the file.

That, my dear, is a bit rediculous >:>;;

Blaaaaaaaah 01-26-2008 02:01 AM

What'd you do Derrick? - points at LALALALALAA -

Anyways.

I use the trial version of fraps. I can live with a 30 second limit. What I do is a I use VirtualDub (a free program) that allows you to crop your movies. I usually crop it to cut out the user interface if I have it on when I filmed fraps, but it also works as removing the watermark at the top (just but cutting it out). So I really use two programs to make videos.

You can use Windows Movie Maker to make your movies (that's what I use). It's not the best program out there, but it's really good for starters, and it should come with your Windows when you installed it (I think? I just found it in my computer LOL).

Yosei 01-26-2008 02:08 AM

Yeah, windows movie maker comes default.

Blaaaaaaaah 01-26-2008 02:11 AM

Now, for some odd reason, I totally missed the second page of posts, LOL.

@Yosei: Change your settings. I have Full Size, 25 fps, and no sound. Currently, I vary from 150mb-180mb for a 30 second video. I believe it'd be even smaller if you chose Half Size.

Spirit 01-26-2008 04:26 PM

Is there a way to do this so that it does not eat up all my drive space?

Yosei 01-26-2008 04:33 PM

Buy a flashdrive? I'd get a 2gig or higher if its for videos. I use mine for all my art and pictures. But careful with them, they're easy to lose, and easy to break(the usb plug is bendable).

Lady-Loki 01-26-2008 09:07 PM

Western Digital has some pretty good external hard drives - I also have a 40G mini external, but it is already loaned out (maybe I can get it back soon).

Yeap, what Loki said. I know most people get an external hard drive to solve the problem. 2 gigs isn't really enough for videos (well, for me anyway). Every time I play Fiesta and fraps, I always find myself using up at least another 5 gigs by the end of the day. But, that's just me.

iDerrick 01-26-2008 11:17 PM

Well, theres other ways also. These two take a while longer but they do save your drive space. When bla~ahs and I made the video, she uploaded the clips into FileFront, and I was able to preview the files there before downloading them. That was one. Two, with the files I downloaded, I had to burn them onto a DVD or CD because I only had about 5gb left of space lol.

Blaaaaaaaah 01-26-2008 11:18 PM

I burn my videos on a DVD as a back up. But I really hate doing that because it is such a slow process and it lags my computer, meaning I can't do anything on my comp (like play Fiesta) while it burns!

iDerrick 01-26-2008 11:26 PM

Which is why I said it takes a while longer, but it works! My flash drive is only a gig, with that size, it can only hold around 5-6 of bla~ahs vids.

Spirit 01-26-2008 11:59 PM

Loki - I know what I want for my birthday. HINTxHINT!!!!

Lady-Loki 01-27-2008 12:08 AM

Spirit! Did ya try throwing that hint to the guy you married? What's he getting you? Hint Hint!

Spirit 01-27-2008 12:11 AM

That's not fair. He dont want me to play the computer. So why would he get me something that will keep me on the computer more. And besides, I would have to go buy it. He would look at me like I was crazy if I told him I wanted an external harddrive. He would ask me what part of the car does that go on?

Lady-Loki 01-27-2008 12:12 AM

You have a point there. Silver or black?

@ everyone, notice I didn't ask her what size, for her the color would be her main concern.

Spirit 01-27-2008 12:14 AM

Purple or Pink please. But if they do not come in those colors, then black of course.

Are you really gonna get me an external harddrive?

A_Forever 01-27-2008 12:14 AM
