So I was in a KQ, Maras Rage, Everything was great. I noticed that I was not the only one with a +9 bow, nor was I the only archer. I am usualy one or both of those. Well yeah whatever. So we chugged along and got to the first mara and marlone, the fake ones. Thats when things started to come undone. We called for a tank, he answered and died, immediately. the other tanks tried to support him, but failed. I lost both my hearts in this encounter. But from out of nowhere, this archer. lvl 23. 23 I tell you. He came up and said "Ill tank." And alot of us scoffed. To be honest I did as well. But we went for it, and this is what happened.

The entire time, he held aggro. The entire time. Never seen anything like it before, and I doubt I ever will again.

I think at that moment in time, being an archer ROCKED. From this day on I think that all the naysayers can successfuly say "An archer HAS tanked a KQ the entire way through."

Just thought I would share this with you all.

Having a Mage take is cooler. ;D

i got my archer to tank King Slime... i deliberately put a few points in END coz i wanna be an archer tank~

But i never got the chance to tank mara/marlone...

but yeah... ARCHER TANK FTW!!!

I've tanked a couple bosses myself and it's quite fun. Being a full DEX build means I can keep aggro with constant shots. Takes a while for the tank to take aggro off me too... even with NP casted. In Mini I can tank up unti Robo since he's got that nasty Magic attack. And with Endure and Vitality scroll (t1) I can take a couple hits from Dragon until he shoots flames.

yeaaaaaaaah... in Mini Dragon... i've seen Archer and Cleric tanking more than fighters tanking~

I don't have any END either, just ol' fashion buffs, scrolls, and healers.

Lol, hurray for archer tanks. I've tanked Maras on my archer twice that I can remember. People always seem so shocked but archers make pretty decent tanks in a pinch if there isn't an able fighter around, often better than clerics at keeping aggro.

yeah... clerics need a +9 hammer to keep aggro.. and even so Mage tends to take aggro over clerics..

but archers are usually doing just as much dmg as the mage (at 1v1, dont start firing at me about AOEs!) so they can keep aggros better =D

I tried to tank as an archer in apo..but ppl freaked out and flamed me :/, and my build is end and dex build :/

At the most I have seen fiesta utilize about 15kbps downstream/15kbps upstream. But that was in elderine during a guild war by the smith within local chat range of three spambots.

During KQ's its about 10 to 12. if im not laggin that is...

And yay for archers. I love it when my mage has to tank and I succeed. I feel so...... so..... Powerful!!!!!

i cheated though, had endure and teir 2 scrolls xD

Clerics dont' keep aggro by attacking therefore that suggestion is pointless, clerics draw aggro by spamming heal/restore/etc. After a cleric draws teh aggro is almost impossible to get it back even with mock and snearing kick.


NEVERTHELESS, gratz on tanking =), it's a shame the next generation of fighter is by the biggest part bad as it's become more often by the day that other classes are forced to tank due to bad fighters =). WE SHOULD ALL THANK for that TO THE GREAT WORLD OF POWER LEVELING, cuz A HUGE MAJORITY of the people that get power leveled are fighters and they become high levels while are totally clueless what they are doing;).

CONGRATZ again on all mages and archers that can and tank =).

In the days before perfect stones, Full Free-stat STR mace cleric could easily get Boss hate just by attacking :( That really sucked badly during KQ.

You can also keep aggro with STR mace cleric (don't know about hammer) if you're with only a mage (up to level 59) by just attacking. (The cleric outdamages the mage... go figure.)

Haha, but on a more sious note, last night a few of my guildies and I were in FoS without a tank. WE had 2 clerics, an archer, and a mage. I am not sure which one of us was the tank, lol. I think at one point in time, we all were pulling agro off each other. I think I will always prefer to have me a tank versus trying to fight without one.

lolz, in FoS, and lower than level 60 ^^ yeah a tank would be adviced for more safety =)

Yaah, our highest last night was a 50 cleric. Eclipse and I were both level 49. So, it was interesting to say the least, but we had fun and that is all that matters.
