I get that error on my laptop when I have been logged in for long periods of time. When I setup a shop and leave it on for a couple of days, then i will start to have that error all the time. It seems to help if I restart the computer. Other than that I can't help you. There may be a setting that can be changed to help but one of the many, much smarter people will have to answer that for you.

To put it in layman's terms:
A buffer overflow is usually the result of your computer receiving more packets of data than it can handle. Some older computers, for instance, may not be able to handle an excess amount of conversation, such as in Roumen with the spam. |
I have the same problem as well. I have only ever noticed the issue when I spend too much time in Roumen. Now if im having the issue, and I scroll out of Roumen and then go back, im fine. I think it has to do with like, total conversations you are around or something like that. Cause I did notice that fiesta keeps an area chat log. If this log fills up, it could cause a buffer overrun.

Try filtering your chat. Works for me >.<

I. Give. You.
The Quintessential Guide to Buffer Overunning A little lengthy but totally worth it. I felt 10x smarter after reading it. |
i get like that wen im in eld and i have to restart my comp
if ive been in eld for over like 20min like it sucks wen im in gw cuz i freez and then like i die and like it makes me mad or wen im trading and it laggs and takes for ever then they close it |

Execute the spammers!
Idk but seriously... try blocking the spammers? edit: i may not be that good with computers (except when it comes to playing them) but... isnt there a command like "flushall();" which, from what i understand, "clears buffer memory", and doesnt clear the variables? |
The overrun is in the application itself, so the application would need a flush command. Most game engines that are worth their salt (quake engine excluded cause its uber ghey) have a flush command. Hell even elder scrolls games have a flush command, but those usualy purge cached textures. It would be nice if ononsoft addressed this error by adding a flush command that would purge whatever data is piling up causing these overruns.
But im not sure if there is even a flush command so... |
that keeps on happening whenever i log in elderine. but when i go on another character thats in roumen, im just fine. i getting pretty annoyed because my main is in eldy. >.<
|
I just had that for the first time.
Now I can't even log in for over 1 minute. I'm in Elderine too. Roumen was fine... I guess. |
I just got this last night. Restarted my compy twice and closed all background programs and Fiesta was fine after that :D
|
When I run into this, rebooting my computer usually helps. But, I strongly feel that it is all the bot-spammers.
|
Ouch! Read all that and now I have a headache.
I get this on my old computer when i have a vendor set up. Most of the time it takes her being set for long long times and when it happens I just reboot. When my vendor is set up I have disabled all programs except my Folding @ Home (yep - see the link in my siggy for more on that) and anti-virus. The only time it has happened on a vendor set for a short duration has been when the scheduled anti-virus scan runs. And, like I said, it is an older PC, and the poor thing has been through one virus crash (thanks to my granddaughter downloading anything that flashes or moves) and had to be reformatted. Since then it has never been quite "right". Like others in this thread, I just re-boot and go again! |
mm.. i've never gotten a buffer overun before o.o
|
I reinstalled Fiesta, and I haven't had the overrun message since.
