I think people should learn to treat clerics with respect.

I really think people should start to treat clerics with the respect they deserve as humans, after all, behind every character is a human playing, and most humans do not like being spammed with "buff me" when afk or even if not afk, and i believe humans shouldnt be ksed just because they refuse to party someone who insists on keeping free allocation and looting everything. besides, clerics are not your slaves, and can fight alone if needed. if you think clerics are your slaves ask urself who is the one that needs to rely on others?

Zwivix 12-12-2007 02:52 PM

Well I dont see anything wrong with asking for a Buff...we all do it all the time. And there are even Clerics who do it for fun, meaning they run around giving everyone buffs.

I've never really seen anything like Ksing just casue a Cleric wont party. On the other hand we know we need a cleric and would totally respect him. Maybe its different now that more younger kids are joining...

Spirit 12-12-2007 03:06 PM

Clerics hardly ever get the respect they deserve. But, this has been a long standing debate in these here forums. The fact is, some people will think one way and others another way. People who play clerics just haveto learn to turn a deaf ear on the ones that are bashing them (no pun intended).

Fr0Z3nWind 12-12-2007 03:07 PM

i agree with Zwivix
i gotten a some-what-kid-like person
our confersation as follows
Him : PT ME (x10++ times)
Me and my cleric ignored him, we're doing our last 2% to level before we sleep
*Lighting ViVi Spawns, and killed him in 1 shot*
Him : REZ ME! (spamming it over 20 times)
We didnt speak or anything, the monster came 1 after another
Him : TEARS FK U STOP PULLING THE MOBS, REZ ME
I stopped, and rest...on the slope, rez-ing him or not depends on the cleric
He pressed move and came back
Him : (insert my cleric's name here) U USELESS MORON
He charged into the spawn, getting killed by harkan in 1 hit
Him : sorry (insert my cleric's name here), REZ ME
I rested for awhile, cleric rez-ed him
*no thanks*
He died again
Him : REZ ME!!!!! (spamming it as usual)
I spoke : try leveling in fom
He : SHUT UP NOOB!!!!
He pressed move
Pm me : NOOB
Pm him : Since you cant get a party in here nor kill anything, i suggesting u go fom
Pm me : I would have gain exp and level fast if u party me!!! (in caps)
He comes back
Him : PT ME
Him : NOOB PT ME
I : (insert cleric's name here) move back down the slope for awhile
*Trains him*
He died no one would rez him
He came back screaming at everyone else for pt like this...
He : PT ME PLZ, SHE WAS BEING MEAN TO ME

Some people just rely on leeching off and not killing mobs on their own
as everyone can see, cp is being flooded with lower levels who TEND to get annoying

.o0O0O0o. 12-12-2007 03:28 PM

Put a level cap on the CP gate and problem solved. Wish they truly did... As for cleric respect, everyone's got a job (class job). Whoever isn't doing their job, in a party, shouldn't get any respect or xp...

Spirit 12-12-2007 03:35 PM

True, when you party with someone, everyone in that party should all work together. However, I think what the OP's problem with is with people outside of your party harrassing you.
I know with Lady-Loki, people are always asking for a rez or a heal or a buff. Here's the thing, Loki will rez people who need it, she is just nice that way. Loki will heal people who need it, she is just nice that way. She cannot buff yet, but when she does get there, I am pretty sure that she will be one of those that buffs random people, she is just nice like that. However, people need to have a little respect for clerics not in your party.
We were in AEW the other day and this lone person who was farming shrooms while we took down al lthe mobs, pulled a trumpy and was killed. Even though he was farming the shrooms we were trying to get to, Loki rezzed him anyways. He immediately went back to farming our shrooms. The next time he was killed, I told Loki not to rez him. Don't steal the shrooms that we are working hard to get to and then ask for a rez just to go back to stealing our shrooms. Respect that cleric enough to go somewhere else to farm shrooms.

Grudger 12-12-2007 03:37 PM

I don't really see a problem with asking for buffs. I mean it just nice to have so ppl will ask. It is just a quick sec to give. rest and give again. It's not really a workout.

Spirit 12-12-2007 03:45 PM

The problem is that people will run up to you in the middle of a battle and it's Buff pls! Buff pls! Buff pls! Buff pls! Not to mention it IS using up SP and although they can just shroom up again to get it back, what if they only have ten minutes to play, they will spend all of their time in a shroom because of Buff pls! Buff pls! Buff pls! Buff pls!
The only times I ever ask for a buff, I also offer to give them a SP pot T2 for their time.

Zwivix 12-12-2007 03:51 PM

Wow, who would do that....I only ask for buffs in town. When im in AEW people buff my whole party without asking to. We all say thanks and go on our merry ways.

I'm afraid to see how those noob kids will do when they learn how to train o_O. We'll probably get trained randomly becasue some kids wanna have fun...

todd0168 12-12-2007 04:03 PM

Being a cleric myself (my main) I see and understand both sides of this issue. I hate it when people expect me to heal/buff/rez. I have no problems with someone asking. But if I'm busy or don't get to it right away don't get all pissy about it. I had one party in AEW start totally flaming me because they (none of them tanks) started aggroing several trumpies and not really ever using pots/stones and then blaming me for being a noob/lousy healer. Even though I told them to only take one at a time because I couldn't heal all of them at once and keep them all alive if they take on several. I am getting very close to level 47 and plan on buffing anyone who asks nicely. Even if it's "buff plz" that's fine cuz they did say plz. I just hate it when they simply expect it and expect it right now.

Hyper 12-12-2007 05:49 PM

I disagree. Well, disagree with all but the buff-whiners. I hate them.

When you made a cleric, you should have known what responsibilities come with it. You have to heal, you have to Def/M Def buff, and you have to revive, unless you want your KQ to lose.

I think people have every right to scream at a cleric who wont heal, because its their responsibility to do so, since no other classes can.

It annoys me how clerics get all mad about this. People have as much right as they want to get pissed if the tank dies multiple times due to lack of heals.

Don't say "Well you don't know because your not a cleric", because I have a cleric, and I don't get mad when people beg in KQs. I know what certain classes are supposed to do.

Its different for town noobs who just beg for heals/buffs.

Spirit 12-12-2007 05:57 PM

kk, I'm not gonna get into a huge debate over this whole thing, because a lot of this has already been said plus I like you. :). But, my one question is, why cant that tank that is screaming about dying because the cleric didn't heal him or her, use pots and stones. It is sometimes hard to heal everyone in the party when they are all attacknig different mobs and in different directions, plus the cleric has to wait for cooldown, and although it is not a very long cooldown, when you are trying to 4 different people it can be hectic and simply not possible.
Oh, and I dont think any of the above comments were in reference to KQs. They are a different beast in their own right.

Edit: ooooh, look I am Robo!!! Bwahahaha

Esen 12-12-2007 07:28 PM

Hmm... Other than Mara KQ, I have yet to really run into a situation where a lot of people would scream at me to heal them. I've seen other people screaming at other clerics to heal while running around, but I guess this is because I don't party much. I heal or rev anyone I come across though and move on. Most of the parties I've been in then to have more than one cleric anyway, and even for ones that don't, we're mostly just working on quests so healing is not really a problem... Or they have some stones/pots to use in case I'm getting attacked. It's not easy to heal someone when suddenly 3 monsters spawn around you.

Too low level to buff so can't really comment on that. I have never asked for a buff yet and never noticed when I receive one until around 6-8 minutes later. I try to say thanks though and hopes the person's catches it (considering how fast chat seems to move in towns).

In any case, I don't expect much from most people so when they managed to exceed my expectations, I'm just happy. If they don't, I can usually deal with it... Or I say I have to go and hide away on the forums/my other characters/something else, haha. ^^'

pudd 12-12-2007 10:40 PM

There is sometimes really stupid clerics too though. Some poor slug in MT nearly died because she wouldn't heal him (and he wasn't stupid, he used stones). I felt so sorry for the guy, I healed him a bit while waiting for bats to spawn. Her excuse was 'I dn't have any mana'. By lv 25, lets hope a player knows what it means to use a pot.
Or ulg, mara kqs. Omg, don't get me started on some of the idiots that get into mara kqs. So happy thats over with.

Some people are just stupid. 9_9

Lady-Loki 12-12-2007 11:39 PM

And disagree we shall.

I have no responsibility to heal, buff or rez anyone. I do it because I choose to. When I selected the cleric class there was no pop-up that stated that in order for me to create a cleric had had to agree to this and own this as my responsibility. It is a service I have the ability to bestow upon others but I am not in any way obligated to provide these services at the cost of my pots and stones.

That said, I will and do heal and rez when I can, and when I have the hp/sp buff I will buff people who ask nicely or who I choose to randomly buff.

No they don’t. No one has the right to scream at me – for anything. If you scream at me or demand that I heal or rez you then you have a lesser chance of me healing or rezzing you. Do not scream at me and do not demand that I stop protecting myself or whoever I may be protecting just to use my pots and stones to heal you while you stockpile all your pots and stones.

The tank has the right to use stones and pots or not. If they choose not to and “expect” the clerics to spam heal on them then they chose to take the risk and that choice resulted in their death.

I have been in too many KQ’s on all of the classes. When I take my tank in I use pots and stones and I am grateful to any cleric who bestows heals on me, but never, let me repeat, never have I demanded heals or rez. I have had my tank die many times because I could not spam stones and pots fast enough. And even then I did not blame the cleric nor did I call them names because of it.

I do not consider that my tank is the almighty and MUST be healed non-stop and I do not consider that my cleric is anybody’s personal fountain of heal.

As I said at the very beginning: And disagree we shall.

NotMyWay 12-13-2007 12:28 AM

i know that in kq i should buff and heal teamates to increase the chances of surviving (only if they are polite), but what i dont like is that people in town demand 'hp buff' (i cant even use it yet, and they didnt even say pls, and they spammed pms when im afk), and i also dislike people who demand that i party them, but refuse to put sequential allocation so that they can loot everything. also, in a party, if you think people have a right to scream at the cleric when his heal or revive is cooling down (yes i've played a kq where many non-tankers outside my party somehow managed to die to marlone and i was the only cleric), why dont u think people have the right to scream at the damage dealers for not killing a monster as fast as u expect them to, or scream at a tanker who cannot kick multiple monsters and whose mock is cooling?

I also dont like being ksed just because i refuse to party people who loot everything. I dont remember any ToS which said that "All clerics must have a party at all times and are forbidden to solo"

btw, there are people who dont use stones/pots? i even use hp stones on my cleric...

Valentines 12-13-2007 12:37 AM

All of this, in this thread, is exactly why I didn't choose a cleric.

Thanks Loki ^ Totally Agreed.

That is the exact attitude people shouldnt take. Just because WE CAN, doesnt mean we HAVE TO. This is for out of party/KQ, but even in KQ/party there's also a limit to how fast we can heal/revive, other people should be responsible for their own lives as well! Why arent there fighters complaining that "clerics was blaming me for her death coz i couldnt keep the aggro on me"

Also, if u think about it, the quickest way a cleric can heal 4 ppl that's atking, she has to do it in 8 secs, and although 2 sec cool down doesnt seem like a lot, it builds up! anyway

I just got my buff skills and am happy to randomly buff people.. i get a bit taken aback if ppl just say "buff plz", i'm much happier if people address the request to me like "Hessah can you buff me plz", it just seems more polite.. but i guess i'm not too fussed... i buff them anyway.. JUST COZ I'M NICE!

But not everyone is bad..

The other day i was in CP, coming back to my party after i restocked, on the bridge before u go into the prisoners... and i aggroed some harkens so i was on the bridge killing them off...

this guy saw me... and stood there watching me kill my 3 harkens, and the entire time he just waited and said nothing... it would've been a good min or two since i was killing it by myself (party was AFK)... and the whole time i was half expecting him to ask for buff..

Nope.. he waited ALL the way till i finished with my mob before asking "hessah can you cast endure me please?" And I happily gave it to him... and even restored his health (i would restore his SP too if i could)

That's the respect we're talking about!

Fr0Z3nWind 12-13-2007 01:27 AM

at least i ask politely once and dont spam
if i didnt get it, i'll just say nvm thanks
and go back go killing spamming stones (really dont mind that except getting mobbed ahh!! >< 1% T_T jkjk xD i dont mind deaths either)

Correct to some extent. Only if that person is partying with the cleric, and that the cleric can actually heal depending on the situation.

Seriously, don't scream at us if all of the other party members are going down quickly. Or if the cleric is having trouble surviving him/herself. I mean, if the cleric is being an ass and is really slow at healing, then scream by all means.

Clerics do have the responsibility if they're in a party. Parties are formed so the players can cooperate with each other. All classes do their own bits in order to keep the party alive and going.

However, if it's someone that's not partying with the cleric, then go awai pliz.

Well I don't really care if they ask me for buffs, I usually just ignore them or tell them I don't have the buff (which is the truth lol). But meh, I still remember writing a mega bit rant on this long ago back in CB.

It's really frustrating at first, but you really only need to put up with this at lower levels, and usually only in KQs. I don't party with strangers, so I never had this problem when I'm grinding, but it's usually the KQs that are really annoying. I guess I kinda learned to ignore the whiners and keep the good people alive instead, LOL.

You get used to it.

viasta 12-13-2007 01:46 AM

no shiz, god, that's also one of my reasons of people being rude(forgot to add on it) that made me quit D:

some ppl spam heal, you healed him, he walks off like you are suppose to do it

kosherkid 12-13-2007 04:45 AM

Well... I think clerics should be treated as every other class is treated. I mean I dont thank other classes more than the others. I mean sometimes when looking through the posts its like clerics want to get extra thanks for their work, I dunno.

There are exceptions though. Like when a cleric rezzes me or heals me or even buffs me randomly, I gladly thank the cleric. They didnt HAVE to do it, but they did. In parties its different... all clerics need to do is heal, so doing anything else is dumb.

But the conversation you were talking about in the first post didnt really have anything to do with cleric-respect... I think its respect overall. The person was just being a beggar and wasnt treating you with the proper respect. That person needs to learn how to respect people, not clerics.

jacquin 12-13-2007 12:07 PM

To be true, I'm thinking the two sides of this discussion are talking about completely seperate situations:

Those saying that clerics should do what they want are thinking of those that literally abuse the class. I'm speaking of warriors who refuse to buy or use stones in KQs. I'm speaking of that mage that aggos a mob, nearly dies, then spends the next 20 minutes running at 30 hp screaming "CLERIC HEAL!" I'm ESPECIALLY talking about Mr:

"RESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESR ESRESRESRES
RESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRE SRESRESRES
RESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRESRE SRESRESRES
RESRESRESRESRESRESRESRES..." ad nausium

This WHILE I was doing the res.
This occuring EVERY TIME he died.

To everyone: does it make sense that a cleric should NOT have to casually take this? Doesn't it make sense that clerics should have the right NOT to heal under these conditions?

Now, those that are talking about the cleric's job are speaking of those who do NOTHING to help their teammates. I'm talking about the only cleric in a KQ whacking on the boss while the one tanking said boss dies. I'm talking about the ones who expect the warrior to tank, the archer and mage to DD properly, and for themselves to just sit back and enjoy the show. I'm especially talking about KQs where people run out of lives because no one wanted to res:

Yes, there were clerics with res,
No, there was NOT a fight going on, we had just finished a fight with marlone
No, there wasn't so much as said a cross word to the clerics: I was a cleric, though without res and most that happened was a quick "res please" after the boss ran at us, but NO rudeness.

They just sat there and mushroomed at full health till the person faded out.

To everyone, when you're in a party, doesn't it make sense to do what helps out the party? Does it really help the KQ if everyone is dying and fading out because, and ONLY because "I don't have to heal you"?

So how about a compromise? Everyone, clerics, non clerics, everyone: if you are part of a group, do what helps the group. If you aren't a cleric, carry healing items so the cleric can focus on cases were stones/pots isn't enough, be ready to pull aggro off your mates (warrior) or NOT pull too much aggro (archer/mage) so that everyone doesn't end up dead, and for goodness sakes don't be an ##$hole. If you are a cleric, be ready to heal because potions only heal so much, stones run out fast, and we all know that, in a real fight, once you stop the party is good as dead.

And lastly, #$%holes should be treated accordingly, whether they are a spoiled warrior or an egostical cleric (and honestly, aren't they the same thing in the end, no matter the class?).

Enraya 12-13-2007 12:43 PM

<3 Jacquin.

Clerics are the glue of the party. A good party has everyone working together AND having fun at the same time. Clerics don't have to heal all the time - just that they should heal when necessary. If a party member is dropping below half health shouldn't they be healed already? I think that clerics should be oblidged to do what they want outside of a party, unless it includes being rude at someone for no reason. Inside a party, they should ACT like a member of the party. That means healing/rezing someone when necessary. And besides, who would want to just watch a member die? I'd feel guilty if I did that.

Lady-Loki 12-13-2007 01:13 PM

As clarification: I have NEVER, and will NEVER refuse to heal my party, in or out of a KQ. On the one occasion that I was actually in a party where the tank was ugly to me because I simply could not heal her fast enough (and it appeared that she was not assisting her heals at all) and got mad at me because she died and was hateful I simply dropped from the party and solo'd the rest of the way randomly clicking & healing rather than feel an obligation to heal her when her hp line went down. Granted I did not get as much exp from that KQ, but I no longer felt the obligation to keep someone healed who was that disrespectful to me.

I have lost many parties because the aggro was to great for us to overcome. I know the other members of the party were stoning & potting because their hp would go up when I was healing someone else. Basically that is a case of "$hit happens" (sorry to my party mates who have died - even Patches, cuz I now you thinks we kilz you on purpose).

My comments are simply to say we can and we will, but we do not have to heal anyone who is disrepectful and/or hateful to us. I don't even ask that you call my name when you ask for a heal, rez or buff, but please do include a "please".

Whatever you do, just don't scream at me and call me names because that's when you cease to be visible on my radar.

NotMyWay 12-14-2007 04:59 AM

but when outside a party, the cleric does not have an obligation to heal or buff rude people you know? and the cleric has every right to leave a party too...

as a cleric i do know how to look at the left of my screen and constantly monitor allies health, so there arent much problems (other then the time my noob mage friend was "too lazy to move away and attack from a distance", but thats something else altogether...). i just dont like those outside the party and outside the kq who have no manners and spam me with buff requests or revive requests or party requests ("pls" not included).

although i still think those outside a cleric's party in kq should still be more polite in asking for revive, and understand the simple fact that revive has a 5 second cast time and 30 second cool time, and is unaffected by the amount of times you request for it, or the amount of 'zzzz's u put after 'rezzz plzzzz'. isnt it enough to just say once?

Hessah 12-14-2007 05:20 AM

But sometimes it helps to tell them that you're skill is cooling instead of ignoring them, coz they think you couldnt see their "rezzzz" spam. Just let them know that its "Cooling"... and if they dont shut up, u can ignore them.

And when people as for Party and I dont want to party them.. i usually just say either "going soon" or "party full" (even if its not XD) and they'll go away..

If they pester then... filter chat, train him back if he trained you... but usually they look for someone else

u might find that (some) ppl stop spamming when u respond to them...

I talk a lot, i tell people what's going on and why they're not being healed / reved (cooldown, too far) and usually they'll understand wats going on...

NotMyWay 12-14-2007 05:25 AM

yeah true but some people dont seem to understand the terms "cool" and "cast time"... although some do know... btw how do u filter chat from specific people?

Hessah 12-14-2007 05:27 AM

yeah for those who doesnt understand... they're not even worth the effort to deal with... XD

oh u cant do it for specific people.. but i would've filtered the normal chat altogether and go into Party Chat... kekeke

If only we've got the /ignore function!!!!

NotMyWay 12-14-2007 05:35 AM

ok thanks... but what if i miss a pm from my freind while i am doing that?

Hessah 12-14-2007 12:03 PM

u're only filtering normal chat... u can leave whisper on..

or was taht guy whispering u?

then... that's trouble XD

NotMyWay 12-15-2007 03:04 AM

ok thanks, but only a few people whisper me when i afk, so i guess it should be fine...

FlameGirl 12-15-2007 04:14 AM

lady_loki <3333

I agree with lady_loki we dont have to heal, but to succeed in a KQ EVERYONE needs to do their job, and they need to learn how to do their job in the lower lvl KQ's cause once you hit mini dragon the last thing you want is a cleric who doesnt heal, a tank who doesnt aggro, and DD's that dont do enough dmg... sure they die but in KQ's you dont lose exp so they have nothing to be angry about. But KQ's are completely different to the normal game.

I usually party with my bf alot, and he was always voted main tank cause he did the most dmg he'd pull aggro off the other tanks. We once had 2 cleric and 2 tanks in each party, so it was 1 cleric per tank, or 2 clerics to main tank. But the other cleric decided to go afk for a sec... that was no problem... until both tanks decided to attack something and i was healing my bf, but i saw the other tank losing heal so i invinced my bf and ran over to the other tank. But my invince doesnt last long against 3 trumpies, so he died... and all i got was "WHY WERENT YOU HEALING ME? I'M MAIN TANK YOU HEAL ME FIRST, I LOSE MORE EXP THAN THE OTHER TANK SO I SHOULD HAVE FIRST PREFERANCE, I'M YOUR BF YOU SHOULD HEAL ME BEFORE EVERYONE" all i said was "i invinced you so i could go help the other tank in any way i could, and anyway, there is a 2:1 tank:cleric ratio, you technically only had half a cleric and should have been watching your health, 1 or 2 stones could have saved this mess"

I'm one of those clerics that celebrated getting my buff by taking a trip to roumen and buffed anyone with less than 200 hp... i think i spent 30 stones on that trip... but it was fun ^^
I like to buff people, even though im lvl 49 if i see anyone lvl 50+ im all like: o.O 'do they need a buff? YES!! *buff* give me brownie points XD'

Personally i prefer clerics over any other class cause of the responsibility... and cause we can get parties in high lvl areas ^^... some people need to understand theres a 3sec cooldown on heal and alot of monsters hit twice in that time, as far as res goes... clerics take care of the living before they take care of the dead (someone told me that, i was in awe of how good it sounded) and i'm always trying to improve my cleric'ing skills ^^

But the moral of the story is (if you think of it in an absract way, its the moral of the story):
Life is like a shit sandwich, the more bread you got, the less shit you eat! ^^
-thanks dad
