Hypocritical?

So... I was just on the front page, and the banner ad caught my eye. (Red on white.)

"Need World of Warcraft Gold?
Cheapest price!Best Service!"

Uh... There must be a way to choose what you advertise, right?

I recommend getting a new ad, if possible, because that really doesn't seem right.

Not trying to flame...

Rightclaw 12-11-2007 04:08 AM

Err...someone on another forum said it's impossible to choose what ads google advertises, but I don't know. o.o

Spirit 12-11-2007 04:12 AM

Haha! THat is hypocritical. Especially since they just posted the announcement that using them can get you banned. Because if someone clicks on the link to buy gold for WoWs, Fiesta gold will be on there also. But, yeah, I dont know if they can pick and choose who advertises. Damn, them bot companies are smart.

Enraya 12-11-2007 11:09 AM

LOL xDDD That's kinda funny!

It'll be bad advertising for Fiesta and Fiestafan ... and fanians could potentially be liked with gold spamming and plvling, etc. It would be cool if we could change them, but if everyone could change what Google advertises, then the gold spammer sites would just get angry at Google cause no one wants their ad on their webpage ^^"

Hyper 12-11-2007 02:55 PM

Then maybe Google is an idiot.

Those sites are illeagal. What's next, advertising porn on the Strawberry Shortcake Fansite?

Yosei 12-11-2007 04:53 PM

For the first time ever, I say a Fiesta ad =D on MySpace D:

y'know what's funny? that's how i found FIESTA in the first place... through a myspace banner ad...

Pritcher 12-11-2007 06:34 PM

Lol, that's kind of funny. I never see ads here so I didn't notice, but I guess I could turn off adblock for this site and click a link or two to support the site, not the gold seller ones though. The only ad I've seen for Fiesta was once on the ctrl-alt-del comic's website.

Spirit 12-11-2007 07:43 PM

Does this site get credit even if you just click on the link, but you dont actually purchase anything?

Pritcher 12-11-2007 07:44 PM

Yeah, it should. The trouble is clicking a gold sellers link also gives their site one more hit and I'd rather not do that.

Spirit 12-11-2007 07:46 PM

Yeah, not talking about those sites. But other ads, cuz I can just click on a whole bunch of ads for the site to get credit, but it's Christmas - I'm broke!!

Pritcher 12-11-2007 07:49 PM

Yeah, Chistmas is costly. I'm pretty sure it just tracks how many times the ads are clicked and google pays the site owner accordingly. Whether the people actually use the sites that are advertised doesn't matter. That's how I understood it to be, but I could be wrong.

Spirit 12-11-2007 07:57 PM

kk, then off to clicking I go.

Xylem 12-12-2007 11:05 AM

I'm not an expert on this kind of stuff, but i think the adds depends on what you "catagorise" your forums/page to be when you first register for the forums/page. If you chose games, then the game ads will appear (This including those gold-buying sites), if you chose business, then some IT site will appear.

That's my guess anyway. I'm always wondering, how do those sites give out gold and service? Do they actually play by hand and collect the gold and powerlevel by hand?

Zwivix 12-12-2007 03:29 PM

Hmm I think Xylem is right. I think its the catagory of the site you want. Casue come to think of it I dont see any gaming ads on other sites I visit...

I dont know, but if they do make it by hand. Why dont they use their skills for good and not evil!!

Spirit 12-12-2007 03:42 PM

Here's the thing. If you go to any one of those sites, and you can go to look without paying, you would be amazed at the games that they have access to. I think, and I could be wrong, that some services are done by hand. I think the leveling thingy is where you have to give them your account information (HUGE red flag) and they log into your account for you. Not sure about Plvling, I dont know if it is different than simple lvling or not.
But, if they have access to that many games and those games cannot stop them, Fiesta doesn't have a chance either. They can only discourage their users from using them and maybe, eventually, hopefully they will all go away!!!!!
I know I am SICK of all the spamming. You cannot hold a normal conversation in town because your words are gone before you say them.

Hyper 12-12-2007 03:47 PM

This whole problem would disappear with two little words.

IP ban.

Or they could ban more foreign counties, because we all know these are from Asia. But they might have people in NA working for them...

Zwivix 12-12-2007 04:01 PM

One word Gameguard.

It would be a give and take. We would get rid of the bots and spammers and cheaters, but we would probably get more connection problems...
