Enhancing Patterns (Guide)
 

Ok, lets get this hashed out once and for all.

Let say these are the numbers of the positions on the smith's Enhancing Wheel of Financial Misery or EWoFM as i like to call it.

Going around clockwise...
Top: 1
Top Right: 2
Right: 3
Bottom Right: 4
Bottom: 5
Bottom Left: 6
Left: 7
Top Left: 8

I've combed the forums here, and only found 2 patterns which people say are effective for enhancing, they go something like this.

Option 1: Hard to understand the author, not sure about Part 9.
+1, Position 1 (Top Center)
+2, Pos. 6 (Bottom Left)
+3, 1
+4, 8
+5, 3
+6, 8
+7, 3
+8, 6
+9, Unknown

Option 2: Hard to decipher the author's intention, but gives all +9
+1, 1
+2, 3
+3, 5
+4, 4
+5, 7
+6, 2
+7, 5
+8, 1
+9, 5

Not sure if these work, and i've never tried it. Can anybody corroborate this or can anybody post their own solution? Or is this all bogus and it's totally random?

To me it's been random. I always start with position 3 and it's always a hit or miss deal.

I've heard of these before, someones told me a pattern, but I didn't memorize. But I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't work. I mean hell, doesn't hurt trying if they really are random, and if you have perfects lol.
I'll test it out if I ever get any Xir and perfects lol.

I was so hoping you two would say "oh you mean you've never heard of the secret fool proof pattern? it's X, Y and Z..."

Lol, I'm not that 1337 ;~; But I will try it out. I only wrote down +7 and up, since my staff is +6.

A lucky at top square usually works for me.

I think it's random, since I got a bow in apoline to +7 using all the top center one.
But..I'll try out both methods once i get more $$ and report it :D

I got lv15 bow and got some free enhancement stones from some random pro, he just traded me, so I enhanced it to +7 using only top center.

I pretty much always just use the top center spot too and I've gotten basically every result from breaking going to +1 to going straight to +5 with no fails and I've gotten up to +7 once, though not through a straight shot.

I'm fairly certain it's random, but I guess anything's possible. Thinking about it logically though, if there is a pattern, it couldn't be there unless it was intentionally programmed in that way. Why would they program such a pattern in there when they want you to buy the cash shop items to help you enhance.

The know someone would find it eventually and then the knowledge would spread and everyone would have perfect +9 everything and nobody would have to buy anything to help enhancement from their cash shop.

For you non CompE/EE types, they say there's no such thing as a truly random computer generated number because the machine will use some kind of repeatable alogrithm to generate the result. To get around this, programmers usually seed the alogrithm off the computer's system time, which in theory would make it real random b/c the computer/user could ask for the number at any point in time.

That said, the chances are small, but it's entirely possible the programmers didn't do a "good" job of seeding the randomness of the EWoFM and some patterns exist. Plus i really really want a +9 wep.

The psychological factor says, since i really want a pattern to exist i'll trick myself into believe that a pattern exists. NO harm trying though right?

Trust me, no pattern.

Even if you could make it not random, it wouldn't work, because enhancing is server sided. I saw someone do this on a video, and instead of the 3 stars in a row, they were all scrambled around.

And the top square's value is 0. From there it goes clock-wise up to 7.

I got to try this. I always put my Lucky/blessed at the bottom which works 90% of the time, but missing the slot always breaks my weapon.. >.>

I'm definitely trying this in a few weeks once I can get money for eyes :D

I've only ever enhanced to +8.

Dont tell anyone, but I heard a dev got fired from onons soft and he released this fool-proof pattern guide:

You gotta wait till the witching hour (according to the incan long clock). Then you gotta get nekkid and rub the oil of a manticore across your monitor, Then you say the blessid hymnal thrice times. The hymnal is this: "gnicnahne ta kcus I" then you place your stone on the wheel according to the phases of the harvest moon (if harvest moon falls midday of the second day of the fifth month then its 12 (noon) divided by 2 (day number) plus 5 (month). ) in that case the number is 11, so you go clockwise and continue on past the eighth slot, so it would be the slot in the 3 oclock position.

And thats how you enhance your weapons 100%

It has to be random, all i use is the very bottom and it always worked for me (not always but you get the picture :P)

Fly is correct. There is no pattern.

I've enhanced 3 weapons to +9 without any CS stones. It's hard, but not impossible. Some boxes "appear" to have a higher success rate, but in reality, they're all the same.

It's just a way to frustrate you and encourage you to buy CS stones to further your gambling addictions... :P

Well i know people that actually "know" how to enhance, they can guess where is very likely for the next enhancement right spot :/. I know it sounds random what i said but well i personally never get an item from +8-+9 in under 8 or so tries while i know people that do it in 5 attempts

EXACTLY the same as me! I got to [+6] on the first pattern and on [+7] attempt my staff broke =(

Maybe that pattern really does work up to [+6] =O

I dont believe in patterns, but everytime i just want to enhance only 1 item, it seems to fail/break often. everytime i want to enhance mulitple low level items, or i prepare a lot of extra money (i.e. i am prepared to keep buying until i get the result i want), i eventually succeed. there was a time when i prepared 10 lix in advance and wanted to get to +6, and i even had leftovers. the next day, i prepared 3, and kept changing characters to produce more lix. i kept failing, and used more than 10 lix.

It could be a coincidence, but i think enhancing several times in a row before logging out might increase ur chances.

but then again, there is a physcological factor, maybe the devs want players to prepare more CS items than needed before enhancing their rarest items...

From 1-6, enhancing usually is successful. From 6+, it has a high chance of breaking/downgrading/uneffective.

Well i seemed to experience high failure rates when trying to get to +6... i guess it get harder the higher u go.

I think its just random, cuz if it was fool proof plan no one would fale and everyone would have the best items within the games limit. There would be no sales and everyone would be a high class^^

I don't think having more money would really effect how high a level someone is, unless they paid for a party.

If someone did (hypothetically) have a pattern, they wouldn't let many people know.

This discussion looks a bit like the "get-the-KQ-in-20min-and-you-get-green-item" discussion. There may be players who claim they always got a green item or succesful enhancements but I didn't got these results when I completed a KQ in 20 min or enhanced in a certain pattern. So it's either that i'm unlucky never getting these things or it's just random... (guess it's the second ;))

I always find it amusing when people in the Kqs are screaming about "hurry up, we get better rewards for finishing it quicker". Wth? Not to my knowledge, lol, and I have done ALOT of KQs. In my Robo KQ that I received my level 40 +6 wand, I had already used both my hearts, been rezzed several times, and never touched Robo. In my Slime KQs that I received all my weapons in, which has been a lot, sometimes we were down to the last few minutes. I think it is random. And there may be some kind of hidden sequence in the game as far as the randomness goes, but to me, it should stay hidden and random.

I just always put it in the 12 o'clock position, and rub my lucky rabbit's foot xD

this enhancement guided destroyed like 2 of my shields and swords... :(

Well, that should confirm that the enhancing is really random..

better be using your own technique,. when im enhancing i always start to put the stones at the upper box then if its success the next one is the opposite sides athen vice versa:p:p:D. i tried it so many times when im enhancing my weapon.
