Oscar the Grouch

My niece is sitting here watching Sesame Street, and I just realized.. Oscar the Grouch is nice now. What the hell..

a.L 12-03-2007 09:39 PM

Lmao. Sesame Street has changed so much, so I've heard. According to an interview I watched with Elmo - on Rove Live, the cookie monster no longer junkies out on cookies. Cookies are a "sometimes" food now, LOL.

Hessah 12-03-2007 10:05 PM

LOL i've always found sesume street scary when i was akid..

they're monsters afterall...

Pritcher 12-03-2007 10:11 PM

O_o WTH?! Seriously? I mean... how can Oscar be nice? That's just ludicrous. He's a grouch. It's right in the name. They're messing with my childhood! I'm blowing something up over this one damnit...

What station are they on? PBS?

Hraesvelg 12-04-2007 05:02 AM

You mean there was a monster on that WASN'T Elmo? I'm absolutely shocked. My son is almost eight, and when we'd sit down for a little TV time, I had hoped PBS would be great like it was back in my youth. Sesame Street is nothing now but cameo/publicity for actors and Elmo, Elmo, Elmo. Makes me sick.

At least they still had Mr. Rogers, then. Now we rock out on 80's Transformers, Superfriends, and a few new ones, like Fairly Oddparents. He's such a great excuse for me to watch cartoons.

This is why I hate PBS.
Does the Veggie Monster really have an annorexic body? Way to set an effing example to the youth, PBS. Crack-heads.

I miss those singing "yip yip yip" aliens. But this is by far the best muppety thing ever.

Yosei 12-04-2007 06:44 PM

Oscar the Grouch was even lecturing his little worm pet on vengence. How it isn't nice. If they made a separate show called Elmos World, the show would be a goner.

Hraesvelg 12-04-2007 07:15 PM

I do so love the Yip Yips.

Edited to say: BTW, PBS isn't responsible for Sesame Street's content. That would be Sesame Workshop (formerly Children's Televison Workshop). They also made The Electric Company, 3-2-1 Contact, Square One, and a LOT of other shows that PBS airs, however. They're really dropping the ball with Sesame Street, though.

If only Jim Henson were still around.

Speaking of muppets and puppets... does anyone remember Fraggle Rock???
I loved that show, lol. Am I showing my age. It ran from 1983 - 1987.

secbro20 12-04-2007 07:23 PM

Yeah Oscar only has "bad days" now. He no longer is a grouch.

I used to have the Fraggle Rock theme as my ringtone on my cel. It was my favorite show as a child, I think. I don't remember it all that well, but I actually do have some recollections of it. Like that one dude's uncle I think was always traveling in "outer space", which was just the surface world with the humans, lol. Good stuff.

The last time I turned on PBS, I was in a hotel room in San Francisco, and the show was like...a bunch of naked men walking down a street, chanting "We're nine naked men, just walking down the street." and this guy who saw them had to be held down by his family because he was like hypnotized by them or something, and started to take his clothes off, and in the end the ice cream man stripped and joined them, and they chanted "We're 10 nakedmen, justwalking down the street`"

It might have been a news story on the film called "A Heap of Trouble" by Steve Sullivan.
