Well, if anyone ever wanted to try TERA and was put off by the subscription based model it's now going F2P in February.

I will now be twiddling my thumbs for the beta of Blade & Soul. ;__:

It feels like people have been waiting for Blade and Sould forever now x.x

but only the korean server is going F2P right?

I tried the demo but didn't like the controls. I have to move with wasd WHILE casting spells at the number thing?? How did you do that??

Most MMOs are moving towards those type of controls.

WhyT_T. I like point and click. I just dont understand how you can be moving while casting spells easily.

Not sure, but you have to use your mouse to aim so don't think it'd help much unless I got one of those mouses with a bunch of buttons.

It does feel different at first but you'll get used to it; Dragon Nest was like that for me

Once you get used to action combat you just can't really go back to the tab target games. I also use a Naga mouse to play the game which I think makes it easier.

@Yosei: Doing pretty good actually. My guild and I are trying to take down the end-game instance and have recently started taking part in the vanarchy system.

If you guys are trying it out and want a guild come February feel free to catch me in-game.


And yeah, really hope Blade & Soul will go into beta this year... hopefully very soon. I tried it out on a (different) server and even with all their bugs it's awesome. Not to mention I can play that game with full graphics with no lag or FPS issues. Much more optimized graphic-wise than TERA.

Huh. I googled all over looking for the previously. They must have recently announced it.

Oh yeah, February 5th is the date. Game and site will be down from the 4th at 7AM PST and will be back up again on the 5th at roughly 7AM PST.

Most probably won't make too much sense for new players but yeah. In recent kTERA notes they've also released cosmetic pets that pick up items and whatever else. Lots of stuff incoming with a free game I suppose.

Founders, ones who had bought the game at one point get some perks. You can also pay 15$ a month for Elite status to get further perks in-game.

Our group is stupidly excited for this patch because of the new content and especially those class balances/changes. xD

Which class is better for solo play? I'm kinda tossing up between archer and slayer

Slayer is the easiest class. Once you get this skill called Overhand Strike at 18(??) you'll just faceroll everything. It's also one of the hardest hitting classes.

Archer is not bad leveling and can solo just as well. They will be receiving some balancing this patch so their MP issues are supposed to be "fixed"... and they even received iframes for their Backstep.

But yeah, down right power the Slayers win. I haven't leveled a Slayer but I never got them past 30 because I found their play style boring. I much prefer my Archer.

If any of you guys are planning on playing and would like some help feel free to catch me in-game. I'm on the Tempest Reach server. But starting on the new one with the rest isn't a bad idea either.

Anything to be said about the caster classes? Any of them good for soloing?

Sorcerer is the only real caster in the game. Once you get Fireblast (main AoE) and Mana Barrier (absorbs dmg) you can solo things very easily. Still pretty easy getting there just have to be a bit more careful.

Then there are the two supports, the Priest and Mystic. The Priest is your big healer and the Mystic may not have huge heals but they provide great support and probably the most preferred healer for skilled groups with their crit aura (increases crit rate by 100%)

Healing in this game is actually fun. You move around avoiding bosses while casting heals which you lock-on. While at lower levels you may be purely healing... in end-game dungeons you play crucial roles in parties such as providing MP support, buffs, and usually the key person in boss mechanics.

Priest is easy to solo level while the Mystic may want a leveling partner.

This is our group doing the end-game instance, this was our first kill. It's from a Sorcerer POV and he's got his rotations down. He doesn't have his best disc yet but the damage is there.

There's the Lancer (me), Sorcerer, Slayer, Warrior and Priest in this one.

I'd feel safe assuming that taking the easy factor out is the intention. It is much more engaging than your standard point and click, which is very lack luster - especially in PvP.

i can login at the game website, but not at the launcher. it keeps saying user authentication failed

Log off at site then try again.

I'm looking at their FAQ and the person who had the problem signed up at the EU site. So just make sure you made the account for NA TERA. You've authenticated whatever you needed to via e-mail and try again?

If you are able to log in at the website then I would suggest trying live chat when it goes up again tomorrow and see what they can do. Might be some longer queues because of it going F2P but they've been really good whenever I had to go through them.

I lag too much, especially in town T_T

Town are pretty bad especially now that there's a lot of people. For leveling I'd recommend just switching channels.

Also Google "TERA optimization" to tweak your graphics card settings if you can.

That's really weird. Live support will be open in about 40 min from my post.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to contact them with that sort of trouble but you can try.

it just keeps sending me to the account summary page and tells me public identity not set. I did manage to get to the the list of support pages but I lost it after I closed the window since Live Support was only for elite and founders.

Hm... I'm not sure what else there is that can be done.

If you've made sure you've verified the account armour stuff through your e-mail then don't know what else can be done. The site and game has been unstable since the F2P launch so all I can say is to refresh the page and see if anything changes.

Last night our group was trapped at the end of the instance due to the server acting up. ;___; Some groups couldn't even pick up the rarest crafting material because of... angry threads ensued. Made me a bit nostalgic of the times when Fiesta would go down for whatever reasons.

First thing I do whenever they reset my settings is remove Global chat.

My global chat is removed but I want to leave on Area chat in case people mention tips I could use, wtc. But most of the time people complain about other games, bash other countries/states, call Elin players pedos and spamming Elin-ized pop culture references (this goes on for at least 30 mins each time) =_=

Yeah, the beginner areas are notorious for that. Gets better once you enter higher level zones. Until you reach near cap. :P
