Kiting in Fiesta Online ?

I was just wondering if you are able to use kiting in Fiesta Online.
Having done it in various other games, I find kiting to actually be an enjoyable thing (i.e. figuring out how to kite varying speeds of monsters, seeing how many hits you can get in before you have to run again).
So before I get my heart set on an archer for OB, I would love to know if there is the opportunity to kite.

Blaaaaaaaah 07-02-2007 01:50 PM

I sound like a noob but what does kiting mean?

As for as I know.. I don't think so.. since I have never heard of the term before. Dx

cyrusvn 07-02-2007 02:48 PM

Kite here means u hit and run.

sleepisfun 07-02-2007 05:31 PM

courtesy google define tool:
kiting (mmorpg) - "popular method of killing mobs (monsters) by staying at a distance and using ranged attacks, and running whenever the enemy comes near."

Because of my lack of knowledge of how the combat system actually works, I am not sure if you can even do it.

so another question, is the combat system dynamic (attacks can be made while running) or static (attacks are made while standing still).
the answer to that question will probably give me the answer to the former.

Shoy 07-02-2007 05:31 PM

Yes acually u can kite in this game, it may seem noob like but its effective. I acually found out a trick u can do, that delays a skill and u can release it whenever u want + the normal atk that is fired. so basically its like a double hit. ill see if i can make a video of it before CB ends.

Trash 07-02-2007 06:13 PM

well, kiting is fairly easy in this game.
A tip for you is that when ur casting a spell theres a short delay after u release the spell. You can get rid of that short delay by clicking other places rapidly.

Ex: Normally - Casting Spell -> Casts Spell -> 1sec delay
My Way - Casting Spell -> Rapidly Click on location -> Casts Spell -> No delay.

Since you know what kiting means, i figure you should be able to see what im trying to tell u xD

It's static.

I've done it a couple of times with boogys, but it's not much of use unless you have a speed increase scroll or something...

o nice ill have to try that out myself :D

Synelia 07-03-2007 04:44 PM

unforunately in this game the monsters can run (or hop or whatever o.o) either as fast as you or faster. Almost no monster is slower than you. So kiting is basically useless, besides when you get higher lvl, kiting will just kill you. All monsters at higher lvls are agros. So if you are kiting, you are bound to run into a few agros and kill yourself gg. :) Just take the hits like a man, you got dex, rely on it sometimes

Niion 07-03-2007 04:52 PM

kiting is impossible for 90% of the mobs because they are faster than you. However you can shoot througg obstacles that monsters have to maneuver around [:

Synelia 07-03-2007 05:11 PM

I do that any chance I get! XD I love doing that, you can shoot through walls too. But they can't attack you until they go around the obstacle, unless it's a glitched obstacle where they too can pass through it.

h4v0c 07-04-2007 03:44 AM

did you know that all the mobs in fiesta online will get healed or regen super fast when you stop hitting it like in 1min?

Kiedo 07-04-2007 05:51 AM

The monsters can attack you from anywhere on the screen. They just need to be at a certain range to start the attack animation. If a monster catches you, it doesn't matter how slow it attacks and how fast you run, you will get hit.

On top of that, a lot of the monsters are really fast.

Or we're just really slow. ;~;

snakz 07-04-2007 04:39 PM

Have to agree on this one, kitting is not really useful as in other games. no really sure why maybe it all the reason every1 just gave in the other post. my advice is to attack the mob as far away and pray that the mob will miss u when it try to hit u :D

Synelia 07-04-2007 04:39 PM

if you're on your horse and you JUST get in the range to be attack by a close fighting monster, you can get away without getting hit. i've done it before o.o..once

haha that's too much work, i'd rather just stand behind a wrecked boat or fallen tree for a couple years :3

Synelia 07-06-2007 05:12 AM

XD you have to know the radius of their range and blah blah blah it's just pure luck if you get that

Sounds like what you have to do with mages...

But cant u invent scrolls to speed up? :P

Rightclaw 07-10-2007 01:00 AM

I think there's 5% movement speed scrolls o.O

+Tequila+ 07-10-2007 01:11 AM

hrmm the point of kiting in Fiesta is really to escape damage especially with archers...mobs however should be dead before the reach you if not..you simply kite till your skills are back up then attack some more :D

Synelia 07-10-2007 01:35 AM

but teq most monsters are the same speed or faster than you. And at higher lvls the places where you lvl every monster is an agro, kitting, if you can do it in fiesta, is basically a suicide trip once you get to the higher lvls.

Lol I can imagine what would happen if someone tried to kiting in agro areas... they run off in the other direction, only to find themselves attracting more monsters on the way.

+Tequila+ 07-10-2007 03:07 AM

hehe i made a mistake in my first meant to say "Kiting in Fiesta is'nt really to escape damage especially with archers" but as a archer you shouldnt need to kite either way.

Synelia 07-10-2007 11:17 PM

In my opinion: DON'T KITE. Sure you may be able to from lvl 1-20, but after that, ALL monsters are agros, not just some, ALL. What's the point in kiting to begin with then? There is no reason to, We are archers, put in some dex or end or something. Kiting makes you look extremely weak too. I have never kited before and I'm lvl 34 now, I must be doing something right don't you think?

Whudafux 07-11-2007 07:00 PM

I kite a bit in kFiesta on my archer mainly because I'm stingy about my HP Pots and I don't like waiting in the Mushroon House for my HP to go back up.

:\

Synelia 07-11-2007 10:31 PM

and what lvl is your archer? Because you either are having a hell of a time now doing that or you're going to.

Skeith 07-11-2007 11:04 PM

Uhmm! what is Kiting! i don't understand english that well! Don't hate me for my question! xD

Fireriot 07-11-2007 11:11 PM

Just hit and away.
If you have stun or slow enemy skill, it's good tactics.

Because the enemy is pulled like the kite, it says kiting(or kite).

Sheapy 07-11-2007 11:20 PM

I still kite at level 27 near the Marlone monsters, it's not really that hard. I run whenever my skills' cool times haven't finished.

Synelia 07-12-2007 01:07 AM

lmao have fun with kiting. I see no use in it what so ever and just a death trap. I'm sure you've been in Sea of Greed a lot lvling. And I don't mean the smart phinos that are just on the path, i mean inside it.

Blaaaaaaaah 07-12-2007 02:07 AM

I actually have never kited before as well, having played both a mage and an archer. I reckon it takes up too much time Dx or I'm just slow at finding a safe spot to run away to. But I reckon kiting would work better for mages.. cos every time they hit and run, they can stop again to do a large amount of damage. Whereas archers don't do a lot of damage at once and does "little" damage every hit, so kiting is going to take even longer to kill a mob.

Synelia 07-12-2007 03:05 AM

i never tried kiting because you shouldn't have to run. We have DEX dodging and all. If you got the right build you don't have to kite. The only reason why you'd have to kite = bad build imo. Kitting just shows how weak you are, if you have to kite go to a different lower lvl monster. Or party up, not that hard >.>

Kitager 07-12-2007 03:47 AM

Wow, I'd never even heard of kiting until I saw this thread. I thought that hit n' run tactics were ok with archers and mages.

Synelia 07-12-2007 06:15 AM

i never heard of kiting either, but then again I never was an archer. The only time i was a mage was in ROSE but a mage could mean a healer too so :x

+Tequila+ 07-12-2007 10:05 AM

kiting = hit n run lol....just a fancy name for it...but which a archer hrmm i dont see the need for it...with a mage oh yes kite plenty but with a archer if your build is correct then you should have no need for it.

Skeith 07-12-2007 10:20 AM

I don't Kite in the game! It's time consuming because you have to run away and hit monster again when you can just kill them! I kite sometimes or maybe its called Lure when i am in a Party! lol

Synelia 07-12-2007 04:35 PM

even for a mage kiting is just a suicide trip. You are bound to run into other agros when you go into the higher lvls. Also most monsters are faster or as fast as you, and since you have to stop to cast, they catch up to you easily
