Monster Name Color?

i've seen bits and pieces of this discussed in multiple threads, but doing a search proved pointless....

what is the difference between the font color of the monster's names? i've noticed green, yellow, etc but had no idea what they meant. in a previous mmo i played, the yellow indicated a "boss" variant.

i'm guessing that the colors change depending on your level in relation to that of the monster?

what colors are there?

thanks in advance........

I'm pretty sure Green = your level. I'm not sure about the others, but I assume yellow is like near your level and red is beyond it. o-o Gray is much lower than your level I think... I'm not sure how much of a level difference is counted, I just noticed all monsters with a green name were the same level as me according to the wiki.

Gray = a lot lower level than you.
Green = lower level than you.
Yellow = your level - mobs you could solo at.
Orange = a bit higher level than you.
Red = a lot higher level than you - but you can still take these down in parties at higher levels.

Oh, haha, I guess I don't really pay attention. xD

Gray Text Monster Names : 5 level or lower than your character level.
Green Text Monster Names : 1 or 2 levels lower than your character level or something, I forgot
Yellow Text Monster Names : Your character level & I think 2 to 4 level higher than yours.
Orange Text Monster Names : 5 levels or higher than your character level.
Red Text Monster Names : Beyond your character level by a lot.

Just ignore those red ones. XD

Ignore Red ones if you can't take them on
Face the red ones if you are guaranteed that you can gg pwn it

The name colours aren't all THAT accurate though. Even if it's the same yellow monster, one would be harder to take down while the other is easy/easier.

For me, Harkans and Weakened Ogres are both orange but Harkans are a lot easier for me to kill than the ogres.

harkans and shreks are still read red to me.. but i can solo it without risking my life too much... (as long as they hit me 1 at a time)

and... treasure chest are red named! OMG stay away from them~ lemme know when u see one and i'll take care of it for u XD

viasta 11-21-2007 03:03 AM

what does Harkans look like? are they like hawkman?

Hessah 11-21-2007 04:23 AM

they look like gray dogs standing on its legs...

viasta 11-21-2007 04:32 AM

Just because it's red doesnt mean u need a party.

I am only 44 now and Solo Orcs for nearly 1k xp a kill and i spam some T1 pots and my stones and get good fast xp. When 2 or 3 are on me and i solo then i use T3 pots but thats rare.

But actually, just because they are red doesn't mean you can actually take them on.

I reckon the name colouring system is a bit too vague. They should add another colour like purple for the really really hard ones which would be impossible for you to take on. There are red mobs you can solo, there are red mobs you need a party for, and there are red mobs that you can't take on at all.
