Player Mods

Looks like it was deleted.

Rightclaw 11-17-2007 07:24 AM

I saw absolutely no reason for that thread to get deleted....

I'm all for player mods, btw.

Zotius 11-17-2007 07:33 AM

Why? Because you stand a chance to become one? Well me too.

Blaaaaaaaah 11-17-2007 09:30 AM

So, what was that about? Anyone can fill me in please?

Pritcher 11-17-2007 09:31 AM

Was it about player player moderators or player modifications? I know they don't like anyone doing anything to their client, even if it has zero impact server-side so if it was modifications then I can guess why the thread was closed.

I wish they would allow for some client-side modding to be done. Some mmos embrace it, look at WoW for example, and some of the stuff users create are flippin brilliant and only enhance the game. That game was originally designed with player created add-ons in mind, though. I don't think Fiesta was.

As for player moderators? I don't like the idea of giving players too much power.

Player moderators = just forum ones right?

I guess it's okay... thing is, if you want to select a person that definitely won't abuse their power and is always unbiased/big headed and etc, they're usually the quiet people that doesn't catch much attention, so it'll be hard to find a person like that in a community that's so big. D:

But meh, I don't often visit the official forums so I wouldn't really know what it's like there.

Pritcher 11-17-2007 09:38 AM

Ahh, I was thinking about giving player in-game powers. I don't like that idea, as for player forum mods on Outspark, I really don't care. I never go there.

Lilian 11-17-2007 09:50 AM

player mods in the sense of moderation = ultimate fail.

Keep that clowning to private servers.

Zucchini 11-17-2007 09:54 AM

I think it can work if given to ppl who dun abuse their power. Maybe they should be given a interview or something first if there really is a selection of player mods.

Yosei 11-17-2007 02:28 PM

If they gave players jobs as moderators in the forums or in the game, they'd probably watch them like a hawk. They'd probably have a log of all the actions that person did that day. Well.. thats how I've seen it in the past.

LloydWaver 11-17-2007 04:36 PM

I don't care if they assign 'random' moderators for their forums, but just don't do it in the game.

I've already met enough mods who were banning everyone who were opening their mouth to criticize the company or the mod himself. Also some rumors were around about the company giving some of the players privileges, those who tried to spread the rumor were banned from the forums instantly, some were even banned from the game if they continued. Guess what, those rumors turned out to be pretty true.

Anyway, what I'm saying is mods can do a lot of stuff behind your backs. So if a 'random' player gets all that power, who knows what will happen. Maybe we get 24/7 3x EXP.

Rightclaw 11-17-2007 04:39 PM

Yeah, Lackluster was talking about forum moderators. Not in-game ones.

Hraesvelg 11-17-2007 05:50 PM

I'm not sure what sort of admin structure the game can support. Several games I've played in the past allowed for lower leveled "GM" powers. More like demi-gods and mainly for bot control. They could warp players to a test map and check them out against known bot behaviour guidelines. Then, they could suspend the account pending review by a "full" GM. Worked fairly well.

it was just for forum moderators, not in game ones.

Hraesvelg 11-18-2007 04:23 AM

I suppose I wasn't clear enough. Someone had mentioned player moderators in game, and I was saying that it has worked decently enough in the past on other games. I couldn't care less about the official forums. I think I've made a grand total of one post.

Lackluster 11-18-2007 08:25 AM

I don't see why they deleted that thread either... it took me a long time to type out... :|

Blaaaaaaaah 11-18-2007 08:36 AM

Who created the thread?

Lack. Maybe they didn't read the thread, and they thought he was talking about the 3rd party program mods. LOL.

Blaaaaaaaah 11-18-2007 11:49 PM

LOL Wth. o__O" I'd laugh if that's the case... since there's nothing wrong with a discussion of player forum moderators. Not that I see anyway.

Hessah 11-18-2007 11:54 PM

it sounds like they already hire people to monitor the forum, so there was probably no need for players to do it...

Zucchini 11-19-2007 02:47 AM

Yeah. It would be cool if there were in-game mods though. As long as they don't spam x3exp all the time and bann anyone that piss them off.
