Dota on LAN connection..
 

For a random reason, me and my bf are back into dota..

We're trying to connect to each other through LAN connection.. and it isn't working terribly well.. (We remember that it was heaps of trouble to set it up, but don't remember how to fix it..)

So we've both added warcraft as exception to our firewall, added the port on our firewall, host has got battle lan, and the one joining has got lancraft..

At one stage he could see the games that I set up, but "unable to join game".. but that's as close as we've got.. most of the other time I can't even see the games he host..

Do we need to do a port forwarding?

As usual, after you spent hours looking up forums, couldn't find a solution.. then you ask the question yourself.. and the problem will magically solve itself and disappear..

The plan for that is going smoothly. I burnt her bf LoL and will be installing it on my sisters comp while she's at work... :smarty:

Yeah i just hvnt been bothered installing and signing up and all that xD

At this rate I'll even have to sign up an account for her.

We both tried a few things and eventually it worked.. not too sure wat helped it.. xD

How you connect THROU lan while your at work and he's home? I thought lan only on close range.

IP changing/proxy. That's how garena sort of do it as well.

I love DotA! Do you use Garena? If not, use it. Then you can your bf can play with other people to.

If you play on Garena then we should play together! I'm going to download wc3+garena and try DotA again.

We're not using Garena.. not that I know of anyway..

I get really worked up playing against other humans.. so we only go against bots..

That's party why I'm too scared to start LoL coz I'll just have a high blood pressure constantly xD

Even a Fiesta PVP where I thought "i'll just get some free exp" gets my heart pumping and hands shaking!!

don't worry about it, just do what i do, play a ranged squishy and make everyone else jump in first so they get hit. then you get to relax and pick your targets like you want to.

LMAO yeah I mean ashe is a good start because there isn't a lot of skill coordination required but then it's so easy to die a lot.

Seriously dota is so much harder though =.= too much coordination required. LOL

I'll go install LoL on your comp now. xDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I think Tristana is a good start! Miss Fortune might be OK too.
