Lone Star

If you guys didn't watch the season premiere, please please please please catch it online at Fox.com or even Hulu. I loved--LOVED--the premiere but it just didn't get the amount of viewers it deserved because people would rather watch the Situation dance on ABC. =_=

The premiere was really complex and subtle and it felt more like an HBO show than a Fox show. I can't wait for the entire season and I don't want it cancelled. T_T__T_T_T

It's on Fox. It'll never survive if it's subtle or interesting.

Yeah, I'm still bitter about Firefly.

Hraesvelg 09-29-2010 01:42 AM

Damn. That was QUICK, even for Fox.

Sad day.

I hope it gets picked up somewhere else.

The first episode was good/interesting but it would have made a better movie. I can't see it lasting for a whole series.

Ralath 09-29-2010 08:05 AM

That's why you want to watch the whole series!!! Because you want to see HOW they do it!!!

Blaaaaaaaah 09-29-2010 08:06 AM

^ And it'll prob turn out crappy.

Ralath 09-29-2010 08:06 AM

And we'll never know~~~~

Anyway, shows are usually pretty good their first season because writers basically have the story all planned out and outlined. It's seasons 3, 4, 5 where you really start to see problems because some writers don't have it planned out and they're just making it up as they get to it.

Hraesvelg 09-29-2010 01:11 PM

That hasn't been the case for most TV series. Season 1 is generally a time for the cast and crew to really get to know each other and gel. Do you remember season one of a lot of great shows? Most of them were really weak compared to later ones. Just for example, Star Trek:TNG, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-Files, Stargate:SG1.

There have been exceptions, of course, but this is a modern idea that the first season of a TV show should be great.

Hm.... I guess I have a different representative sample than you. LOLOL.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Gossip Girl (1st season was still the best, every season afterward is unwatchable), Office (first six episodes weren't very good because they copied the UK version but then really picked up after they started being original), Desperate Housewives (good first season), Vampire Diaries (amazing first season), Glee, Grey's Anatomy....

Lololol. But yeah. We have totally different sample sets.

Hraesvelg 09-29-2010 11:21 PM

Yeah, we watch totally different tastes, especially if you think the US Office is better than the UK one.

I've never seen the UK Office so I can't really compare them. But point being, the US Office was terrible when they were rehashing the UK Office skits and picked up when they started doing their own material.
