New York so Far !

Hello FF!
I have been unable to inform you all on my trip to the big apple so far due to the lack of internet. Well; there's internet but its $17 for 24 hrs. But I have it now. And will now fill into you all what has happened !

TL;DR - Go to Bottom

Saturday:
Left England at 11am. 7 hour flight and arrived at the JFK airport at 2pm local time. We took a Taxi to our Hotel in.... TIMES SQUARE ! We're staying at the Mariott Marquis hotel on the 43rd floor. And I still love the glass elevator. This dya was pretty "meh." as we got used to NY and took in the sights of Times square.
We picked up our New York pass which we payed for earlier back in England and grants us discounts and free access to a variety of things. We then ate at Planet Hollywood.

Sunday:
We woke up way too early and had a McDonalds breakfast from a McDonalds (Fun Fact: We call them 'Maccies' where I'm from) a block back from TS because it was more vacant. We then just walked around NY and up to Central Park. Where we took a ride on those carriage things pulled by horses around Central park for a while. I forgot how long but it was really nice.
We then checked out the Apple store on the way back because my Dad wants an iPad and my Mum needs a case for her iPhone 4.
But they had neither. Woop !
We ate at I think TGI Fridays near Times square and then returned to our apartment to sleep.

Monday:
Today was the first day we used our NY Pass which would expire in 3 days, we had a MAccies breakfast and visited Madame Tussaude's Wax museum, whcih was very fun. King Tut's exhibition was after that but it was a big letdown, as they had neither the Death mask or the sarcophagus(sp?) which the advertisements made it seem like they did.
With a big portion of the day left we were feeling the NY heat. We were still forced to walk down to the docks to take a 3hr cruise around the island. (All of this is free due to the pass. Yay.)
We also found a musical instrument shop called "Sam Ash" where I first drooled over the Les Pauls and Gibson SGs but eventually bought a Blues Driver pedal and a wallmount for my guitar in the shape of a hand. So it looks like some epic hand has erupted from my wall to grasp my guitar >D

Tuesday:
Today we visited the Rockerfeller Centre, went up to the observation deck and then did a tour of the NBC studios. But not before buying a ball from House MD... :D
I liked the NBC tour as it gave a nice insight to the world of television. Anyway, we then took a Taxi down to the bottom of the island to see the Bodies exhibition on Fulton street. Basically all of the things in this exhibition are real corpses or from real corpses than once belonged to the chinese government... but after the novelty wore off it wasnt all that good.
To eat we went to the Hard Rock Cafe... although its more of an underground restaurant. Rock and roll artifacts lined the wall; Malcolm Young's guitar and Tony Iommi(Black Sabbath) Gibson SG were one of the few that interested me, not to mention outfits worn by the Beatles.
Anyway, we began waiting in the mile long line amost immediately a waitress found us and lead us to a table. Even though we were near the back of a massive queue, we felt like VIPs :D

Wednesday (Today):
Today we went to the Empire State building, and it was a dissapointment. The 12 miles of queueing on every floor for countless floors was not worht the cramped and small observation platform. We even ended up taking the stairwell on the last 6 floors to skip the queue.
We took the NY Skyride, basically a group of seats that move with a video on a screen on the second floor of the Empire state. And it was very fun.
With a lot of time left in the day we decided to first have a drink and then get a Taxi to Central park to visit the Zoo. Before grabbing a Taxi I bought the 6 Scott Pilgrim comics, as I'm eager to see the movie and get the game.
The Central park zoo surpassed my expectations but we were soon baked alive in the heat and decided to go back to the partment. I got a takeaway and am currently sitting in the room typing this while my parents are out at dinner.

So yeah. Awesome :D
Now I think I'm going to make a Scott Pilgrim wallpaper for my Laptop.

TL;DR - Go to top.

I just scrolled up and down your post twice..

Phantom Badger 08-12-2010 12:23 AM

Good enough xD !
Here are the Two wallpapers I made. Simply by getting one of the pictures in the comic. Adding bits that were cut off, such as the back of his head on the left and the tip of his Bass on the right. then inverted it for the white background:

There is that gap at the bottom so it looks good with the Windows 7 bar across the bottom. So it looks like this:

"ITS TIME TO BREAK OUT THE L WORD"

"lesbian?"

"the other L word"

"lesbians?"

"IM IN LESBIANS WITH YOU!"

Hessah 08-13-2010 12:55 AM
