FF Pokemon tournament discussion
 

Well, justw anetd to discuss this idea of a Tournament, if we're being serious about it we'd need around 5~10 people atleast. So if you want to join, say so and we can start to discuss the rules that people would be most comfortable with.

As briefly discussed in an earlier thread I think NU would be the msot favoured. But perhaps 1 OU in the team to spice things up ? Im not sure.

Hm... I'd join, but i dont have any good pokemon yet.

Also, what versions are allowed to be used for transfering and stuff? is it some kind of evened out thing, for those who dont have games like HG or SS yet, or a free for all?

Can we play on a Pokemon battle simulator? It's easy to download and making teams are easy. The only thing is there is none of those cool move animations.

I'm in OU or Uberz. But if I have to make some NU team, I will.

I guess you could use any pokemon game with wifi and you'd be set up against others randomly type of thing.
To accomodate Kirby I'm debating whether we either have the whole thing using a Shoddy battle of some kind or just having the matches against him with a Shoddy battle ?

And I can pokesav if people want some stuff |D

I'll do it. Battle simulation is ideal, since I can't be assed to manually grind out IV's or whatnot myself.

Sweet. And I just made a really bad NU team.

Take your time, looks like we're using a Battle Simulator anyways, in which you just put in the Pokemon type/IVs/EVs/etc

Its not happening right now XD once we've sorted out what we're doing I'll make the thread with the official match-ups which will be done at random
And if we're going to use a Shoddy Battle simulator thing could you link us to your preferred one Kirby/Triumph ?

And in terms of rules, all I have so far is NU only, how do you guys feels with things like the species or item clause ?

I play with Sleep/Freeze/Self-KO/Evasion clauses.

That link isnt working for me, and I think Sleep and Self-KO clause is going abit overboard there as it eliminates alot of strategies.

The only team that is neutralized by said clauses are sleep spam teams. Self KO prevents ties when there each player is down to their last.

Didn't have those when I played Pokemanz.

They are rules added to make the game more fair.

Sleep Clause allows only one Pokemon to be asleep. Rest doesn't activate Sleep Clause. This makes it so that people won't be spamming Spore all the time, and they're basically sitting duck.

Freeze Clause allows for one Pokemon to be frozen. So if one Pokemon is frozen, and you switch out, none of your other Pokemon will have the chance to freeze.

Self-KO clauses disqualifies you if you use Explosion or Destiny Bond if you both are on your last Pokemon.

Evasion clauses bans Double Team.

OHKO clauses bans Fissure, Sheer Cold, etc.

Ohhhh, my mistake, I thought Sleep/Freeze clause meant you couldnt freeze or put them to sleep at all.
And is the Self-KO clause only when you're on your last pokemon or is it like you cant use explosion at all ?

Are there any mirror sites to download that nbsup simulator ?Since the website still doesnt want to work for me :( I'll keep trying though.

Finished downloading but it wont start, I open it then a wizard pops up trying to 'take me through' the interface but it then doesnt respond.


Due to this failing of my computer would it be too much to ask for people to use Smogon's Shoddy battle ? Or should I keep trying ?

Self-KO clause is this: You and your opponent are down to your last Pokemon. You use Explosion/Selfdestruct, you lost, no matter what. Even works with Destiny Bond and they kill you. This is to make draws to appear less often.

ShoddyBattle is okay, I guess. It's my least favorite out of the three, but I'm okay with it. Making a team is pretty strange on ShoddyBattle, but Netbattle is easier.

But if you can't get onto Netbattle, then okay. Go ahead and use Shoddybattle. Not my favorite, but it's okay I guess.
