probably easy as pie for everyone here :x i fail at science Dx i tried it over and over again and i keep getting confusedd

Ca(OH)2 + HNO3 → CA(NO3)2 + H2O

er all #s there are subscripts xD;

you can see that you've got 2x (NO3) on the right..

so you'll need to make two lots of NO3 on the left..

Ca(OH)2 + 2HNO3 → CA(NO3)2 + H2O

now you have 4x H on the left (Ca(OH)2 + 2HNO3)

So you need 4H on the other side..

Ca(OH)2 + 2HNO3 → CA(NO3)2 + 2H2O

everything else now balances..

I'm not sure if that's the correct way to explain it though...

Ctrl + = in Microsoft Word by default.

I didn't mind chem.. i had that same awesome physics tutor that also taught me chem xD

I usually just use trial and error.

If I have even and odd numbers, I add a two in front of the odd numbers to make them even and then go from there.
