Windows 7 or XP?
 

:x this weekend i have the goal of buying a new laptop.

im thinking about getting windows 7. >.< ive always used xp but do most xp programs run on windows 7?

is windows 7 better or worse than xp? ><;

eh im thinking same thing cuz im buying a new tower
in a week or two lols

If a program runs on Windows Vista fine it will run on W7 fine. Many many people are switching over to Windows 7 now because it was a huge improvement over Vista. That was the only reason to stay with Windows XP but now that Win 7 is released there isn't any point on using XP if you have the option of upgrading to Win 7.

Very very few programs/drivers have slight compatibility problems with Win 7 this would've been the same with Vista since how should I say it. "Run off the same core"

But dont expect that to last long now that XP is obsolete. Go with Windows 7 its definitely better than both XP and Vista. In the long run its by far the best choice.

Win 7 takes some getting used to since its Interface is quite different from Windows XP. It took me about a week or so before I fully got used to it since I never even tried Vista as I went from XP straight to 7

ive only barely touched vista on my friends computer and i was on my dads windows 7 laptop for a few minutes ^^ it looks very nice and ran extremely fast *o*

it will be AMAZING compared to my currently 7 year old (or something around there) piece of fail laptop xD!~

mostly the things i want to run are video editing programs, a few online games, and.. er... some image editing programs. (and of course other stuff)
are there any extras in W7 that there arent in WXP? (like things that i will have no idea how to use cuz they are new? xD)

you can make programs full screen or half screen by dropping it to the edges. So if you wanted firefox to be full screen you drag it all the way to the top. If you want firefox to take half the screen you drag it to the right. Pretty cool xD

It's really cool. been using it for about a year or a little less than that now.

but my mom is going to put that evil time-restricting program on it.. =/ sighhh

And i did a upgrade FORGETTING to make the backup of files that I still need etc etc.

I prefer XP, but 7 is probably best now. There still are a few compatibility issues with 7 that I've noticed, but it's not something your average user finds.

I'm still on XP, but either with a new computer purchase or if I decide to upgrade, I'll switch to 7.

Those types of programs aren't all that difficult to bypass, the trick is bypassing it without alerting the "parent" that it has been bypassed.

14 inch is pretty small nowadays Mines a 17 inch so that's 3 inches smaller. Not going to be that big =/

i think my current laptop's screen is like.. the smallest you can get... xD and its really old...
so to me the screen will be big hahah

not sure how big my monitor that i used with my pc was... not widescreen or anything though...

Yeah, my monitor is not wide screen either. Just a square. Though, 14inches seems really small to me=/ Guess you'll just have to find out if you'll like it or not

I wouldnt call that clean xD I never did like those gadgets and any program I want to load I do it from the start menu.
