No. Lolita is a style of dress, popular in Japan. it involves dressing up in "little girl's clothing" but by itself has nothing to do with underage porn. Hentai perhaps... but lolita hentai is legal.

Lolita is a reference to Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. In the novel, an adult becomes sexually obsessed with a twelve year old girl. Quite a stunning example of 20th century literature. However, in recent times, the term has become more or less shorthand for the object of underage desire.

Coincidentally, it could also be a nickname for Dolores, as that is how the name Lolita derrives, but its highly unlikely in this instance.

It is not referring to the novel...the guild is made up of anime fans..thus Japanese trend followers.

I think my friend was reading that book at uni. I was like D: WHAT ARE YOU READING? Since I had only knew about the slang meaning of Lolita.

Even a site that gives steps on how to dress in the modern japanese style of lolita notices the slang meaning of the word:

you cannot say "clam" on fiesta (which i never knew to be slang)... so why is "lolita" allowed?

so they went over board on "clam" but not "lolita"?? that doesnt male sense... clam is more commonly known as a food... lolita is in the dictionary as a sexual name. it isnt even in the dictionary as the dress style, which are claiming the name to mean.

It is, however, listed as a book in the dictionary. Your point isn't as long as there is more than one meaning to the word. Also, remmeber this is only the English dictionary.

I love it when people use Wiki and an uncited reference to back up their points. I'm sure the person in Candy Candy (whatever that may have been) in the 70s was quite familiar with the novel, published in the mid-50s. Has the term evolved? No doubt.

Am I offended in the least? Of course not. I'm more of the live and let live mold. Someone could make a guild named "Monkey Fuckers" for all I care.

It's fact, unless Japanese Lolita is merely an urban legend and every picture that is circulated on the interwebs is photoshopped.

Why did you post this here if you wanted a GM answer? This is a fansite you know. The GM's hardly ever come here, if not at all. I wish I could move this thread to the officials lol.

Firstly, I personally wouldn't care of there's a guild called Lolita. I wouldn't offend me anyway, in fact, I'll find it humorous. This is, of course, a personal opinion.

Secondly, I do not think a GM's opinion is much more important than ours. We are, after all, the people who play the game, who are the ones that can give them feedback for them to improve the game. Whether they will choose to listen to our views or not are entirely up to them, but I would disagree to the fact that our opinions are unimportant.

Thirdly, although Steam do come onto the forums here, I think it would be better to notify him via the official forums next time if you want an official and quick reply. Of course, you may post it here for some friendly discussion, but I'd just like to point out that he holds no responsibility to come here to figure out in game matters (even though he does), so do not expect him give you an official reply as quickly as he would on the official forums.

For the record, a forum is a centrally located space in the center of a Roman city, used for public discussion on a wide variety of topics. Hence why these types of sites use the name "forum" for a public discussion group.

I could get into the whole forums/fora thing, but that's for another time.
