I disagree. Not his fault his brothers were fighting and they should have been punished, and not his job to keep them from fighting.

The whole idea that older siblings are supposed to be more like "parents" to younger ones is dumb. If I had tried to break up this argument in my house, my younger siblings would have just said "Your not mom/dad and your not the boss." Which is completely true.

Lirange 01-08-2010 06:47 PM

My oldest sister usually broke up fights between me and my sister. Since his little siblings are really young, they probably will listen to him. All he had to say was "Be quite, mom is sleeping. Your going to wake her up and she's going to get mad"

secbro20 01-08-2010 07:01 PM

^ true. I didn't know how young his siblings were

cillia 01-08-2010 07:21 PM

i only have my older brother and he would always back me up against arguements with my mom.. and he still does.. xD except now im 13 and hes 19.. so we make like an uber arguement team :D

Hraesvelg 01-08-2010 07:21 PM

I guess it's never too early to learn that life is anything but fair.

A_Forever 01-08-2010 09:38 PM

lulz

I agree with my brother. There was no breaking up fights with my 3rd oldest brother and I. Not unless Sec and the oldest wanted to hit us a few times to make us stop. That just caused them to get the belt ;o

Honestly, older siblings shouldn't have a responsibility to stop such things as immature fights. Sure, if the other kid is going to do something that could kill/hurt him/herself and others.. then they should intervene. Otherwise, not their problem. I know if I had been an older sibling, I would not waste my time breaking up a stupid argument.. because then you ARE involved and when it comes time for parents to punish people, you definitely can't talk your way out.

Fr0Z3nWind 01-08-2010 09:43 PM

Somehow in my family, me and my sister never really fought. Except once where we had only one computer, she and I both needed to rush a project. Anyway sometimes parents are doing the immatured quarrels too.
Just recently they had a little squabble about working and going for badminton matches. One complained that he went on the other day, its only right she gets to go too for a day. But he wanted her to work and blah blah blah.
Geez. That made my mum sit outside the door waiting for my dad to leave the house first before coming back the other day.

At dinner, my sister said to me childish. I nodded. LOL

Its not that you don't love your siblings, but siblings fight, at least we did in my family. Doesn't mean we don't love each other.

A_Forever 01-09-2010 05:20 PM

If siblings still act like that when they are older, thats when you need to start telling them to grow up.

I am 15 and my brothers are 18-21. We don't really fight anymore. Not like we used to. Its more verbal than physical now.. and not really that often. I think a lot of the time its just built up stress/anger and we accidentally let it out on each other.

We still love each other though. I love my brothers a lot <3

Hraesvelg 01-09-2010 06:09 PM

Yeah, all siblings fight. Hell, I've got about 13 years on my sister and she still used to take a swing from time to time. But woe betide anyone that messes with her...

Yeah but you can tell them to shut the fuck up and settle down.

Hraesvelg 01-09-2010 08:12 PM

Which usually ends with the previously said result of "You're not my momma..." which then leads to fisticuffs. Every family dynamic is different.

MikeyG 01-09-2010 09:53 PM

Only children ftw.

I'm really close with my three cousins though
and could go there whenever I feel, and still can stumble drunk
to their house and let myself in, went on multiple holidays with them ... siblings I could choose when to see pretty much.

a.L 01-10-2010 02:09 AM

I have 2 sisters but never lived with them. D:

Sero 01-10-2010 02:36 AM

o.o NEVER?

a.L 01-10-2010 02:40 AM

Nope, they lived with my grandparents. When my grandparents passed away, they just lived by themselves.

A_Forever 01-10-2010 03:01 AM

Who is that dancing?

Hraesvelg 01-10-2010 03:03 AM

Yeah, who is she?

LOL that's what I was thinking.

Phantom Badger 01-10-2010 05:59 PM

Sparky is becoming even more of a 'spoilt' person in my eyes @_@ Even though we have a cleaner, but she comes on weekdays like once a week because my Mum is too busy to clean and my Dad too lazy |D

Lirange 01-10-2010 10:15 PM

You have a cleaner? G__G

cillia 01-10-2010 10:23 PM

D: we used to have a cleaning lady when i was like 3 years old... but they didnt even clean... xD they just like pretended to sweep shiz for 2 hours...
(thats not why we stopped having them come to our house though LOL they charged "alot") ("alot" meaning alot from my moms POV, meaning not that much LOL)
and then my mom used to do all the cleaning...

and now everyone in the house has to clean..

Hessah 01-11-2010 11:28 AM

Maid is actually quite common in some places.. it's not quite what you'd imagine to be like in a Western country... anyway..

Maybe coz you stepped in trouble to "stop them" that you mum thought you're in it too...

at least you still have your DS~

Vasu 01-11-2010 11:43 AM

Me and my brother used to fight about 9 or 10 years ago? He's a year older than me (and I'm just about 17). But of course I love him. He's my closest bud. I'd take a bullet for him any day (and I really mean that).

Ivramire 01-11-2010 02:08 PM

About the maid thing, it's comparatively cheaper to hire here than in other parts of the world. That's why you can have half a car, infrequent groceries, a leaking roof and still have a maid.
